well, for instance i'd hate it if the log out dialog wouldn't have the option label "halt" anymore. i like naming conventions that stick to the underlying shell commands, even if they're not familiar to new users.
well, as with all community systems, there is one problem:
- users are dumb
so, they tend to forget their passwords, and one strategy is to send them to the dumb user via e-mail. this requires plain text storage. There are other ways, but the dumber the user, the plainer the storage, because no site admin would want to answer all the dumb user emails about forgotten passwords.
sometime way back i registered stupid.ch because it was late and i was drunk. lately, i get a lot of mail from people who just use addresses like joe@stupid.ch when registering for something.
it was funny for the first 100 messages or so, but it's getting annoying.
personally, i usually use the sdl of the site i am registering when filling out nosy forms, i.e. yourself@real.com when downloading real player.
i hope none of them actually have their fingers on the trigger, rather stretched along the trigger casing...?
