How is it more 'irresponable' to use water as a source of energy rather than wind or sunlight? I wasn't under the impression that waterwheels were perticularly damaging to the environment.
On the positive side, if everyone by a river did build one of these things, there would be less need for coal powerplants - THOSE are destructive to the environment.
I happen to live in Canada, and a major scholarship opportunity for university students is the NSERC scholoarship. For 4 months in the summer you do research (not stressful work I must add), and you get paid a whole load of money for it. I most definately pays the bills, and can hook you up with some great references that you can use in later life.
I don't know if they offer that kind of thing in the States, but you might want to do a little looking and asking around at the University that you are thinking of attending.
As has been said before, there is lots of money out there that no one even attempts to get. Two of the scholarships that I got that paid for some of this years tuition came along with a personalized letter stating that I was the only person/one of a handful that applied. They ended up giving more than the scholarship was quoted for becase so few people applied.
I figure that the amoung of scholarship money that you get is directly proportional to the amount of time and effort you spend trying to get it.
Good luck with those scholarships, and with your studies.
I'm still getting my dad to pronounce it 'google' instead of 'gogal'.
On a more serious note, however, what is the chance that a new search engine would become more popular than Google? I recently visited my relatives, and my 4 year old cousin knew what Google was. I think that the whole world is so entrenched with Google (cmon: how many people around the world do you think have google set as their homepage), that it would take somewhere near a miracle to get people to use something new. Either that, or a few pots of coffee.
Here is an idea for getting rid of spam. (Well, it's more of an idea of "relocating" it.) Make a hotmail/yahoo email address, and use that for all your internet registrations, people you don't want to talk to, etc. That way, you don't give out your working email to anyone who says they want to enlarge your member.
Fixing other peoples computer is almost a job in my family.
For example:
Me: Ok guys. If you guys get an email with a screensaver attached, dont open it!
Family: Ok
Me: It's important... because its a virus that is going around.
Family: Ok
Next day (and 2 screwed computers later)
Family: My computer wont work!
Me: Did you open an email with a screensaver?
Family: Yeah, my friend Jess sent it to me.

Why not just use humans? Just make a computer based reality world to keep them happy, and harness the energy.
A friend of mine makes over $600 a month by staying on the grid and setting up a few wind towers.
It was started by two doctors, and now just look at them.
Why not get the google toolbar? Search google without having to go to the site AND it blocks pop ups!
But once you forget about them, aren't they fixed?
Sweet! My windoze computer is finally protected from the outside world... oh wait, nevermind.
We have found evidence of terrorist training camps...

It all depends if you want to tell the truth or not.

Need I say more.
Now where's that big red NOS button?
