    Grumble.
Of course rates used to be like $0.12/Kwh and now they are $0.08/Kwh, so....
Then again, my electric bill was $140 last month, so grumble grumble...

Tropical fish are remarkably sensitive to change. They come from the ocean after all, and with its enormous mass and ability to dilute they are have evolved to require stablity in their environment. When the power goes out, the a/c goes out and yes, 90 degrees can kill them, they're usually around 80. The lack of pumps reduces the amount of oxygen in the water, and of course artificial filters cease working and the waste consuming bacteria begin to die. I've read the bacteria can start dyeing within minutes, but I'm sure I buy that. Hours , however, seems like it would be quite detrimental.

Good show Verizon? For what? As one of the world's larger telcos, having automatic backup power is mere competence. If they were having problems after about an hour without electricity, then they would be rightfully mocked.

So what? When did it become the responsibility of the American public to ensure the well being of the Australian steel industry?
As someone from Pittsburgh I can tell you what cheap foriegn labor has done to American industry and with it jobs. During world war 2, the Pittsburgh region produced more steel than the Axis powers combined. Today I can think of 1 steel mill which is still open. There might be a couple others, however most are just abandonded rusting hulks. People are thrilled because one is now a stip mall.
I'm sorry it puts you out of a job, but I think the American government should protect my job, not your job.

Columbus is a model of suburban sprawl hell. As far as I can tell everyone works 10-15 miles ouside of the fairly small downtown, in the suburbs along I-270. Everyone drives, yes, because you need to. The bus system is a joke. Getting anywhere in Columbus without a car is an experiment in futility.
The only reason Columbus "works" is because 270 is what, 10 lanes now? I-71 is 6, 8 lanes? The city's population is ~650,000 the metro areas is about 1,500,000. The highways are huge for a town its size. Bleck.
