American here. They don't even begin to cover as much material in the public schools here as they could.
It depends where you live. I live in the heart of Silicon Valley, where half the families are Asian. It is surprising how much the schools here cover, and how hard they push the kids. The public schools do what the voters demand, and here the parents are demanding high standards and lots of homework.
How about keeping it the same thickness and increasing the battery life?
Because that is not what most people want. It has 10 hours of battery life. That is good enough for most people. How often do you use laptop for 10 hours without access to an electrical outlet? Sure, maybe on a camping trip, but then would an extra 2 or 3 hours really matter?
If you really need extended battery life, then you can buy a separate external USB-C battery pack. There are several available on Amazon, starting under $20.
1. The amount of data collected is microscopic and therefore of zero statistical value.
The study included over 400 people. That is more than enough to be statistically valid.
2. There are no controls at all.
They used non-rich people as controls.
3. All the tests are uncorrelated as the situation is different for each.
What? They are testing for the same hypothesis.
4. And most importantly.. Correlation is not causation!
The researchers never claim it is.
discovering something they have preconceived (bad bad rich people!)
They do not put a value on any behaviors. There is nothing inherently "bad" about not looking at other people. In fact, maybe it is the other way around, and excessive attention to other people is holding back the poor. Steve Jobs once remarked that mediocre people focus on other people, while smart people focus on ideas. Of course, smart is not the same as rich, but they are correlated.
Even the butt ugly ones think they're hot shit. Anywhere else in the world and no one, I mean NO ONE would give them a second glance or the time of day, but because of scarcity they can act like bitchy little children
Hey, that's their loss. They will never know what a big mistake they made by not falling for an obviously great guy like you.
I just hope that someday you find the woman you deserve.
I am sure the millimetre-wave frequencies won't damage you.
I am sure you are correct. The frequency is far too low to cause any ionization, more than a thousandfold less energetic than visible light, but with enough intensity it might make you feel warm.
Just more proof that Apple owners only upgrade for style/fashion reasons, not for new features.
More so in China, because of the gender imbalance. Among dating age Chinese the imbalance is about 10%, so Chinese girls can be very picky, and the guys are under pressure to show they can afford the latest gadgets. They need every edge they can get.
The oil companies didn't have to pay for their own security and they didn't have to pay for the true cost of oil.
Except the Iraq War did NOT make the transport of oil more secure, and did NOT lower the "true cost" of oil in anyway. It did the exact opposite.
It's also very expensive to maintain a naval and coast guard fleet to protect oil tankers.
It is unlikely that America's navy makes the Persian Gulf more secure. If America withdrew, the nations of the region would have a huge incentive to cooperate on security. They don't do that now because they know their immature squabbling will have no consequences.
You're implying that prices went up due to a supply and demand dynamic. This was not the case, prices went up by a great deal more than could be explained that way
You misunderstand supply and demand. If supply is halved, that doesn't mean the price doubles. It means that the price rises until people use half as much, which is WAY WAY more than doubling. Historically, if the price of oil doubles, demand falls by about 3%. So a shortfall in production of 3% is enough to double the price of oil.
Most people put them in their garage. Endpoint storage is generally better than centralized storage, because transmission losses are lower. The batteries can be arranged vertically, like the Tesla Powerwall, so they take up little space.
No, this is nonsense. Windmills are there to produce power when the wind is blowing. Wind is not "peaking power", that can fill in the gaps from other sources, because it is not dependable. The opposite is true: variable winds create peaks and troughs that need to be filled by on-demand sources such as gas turbines or... hydro.
That's a huge subsidy that doesn't get counted as a subsidy.
Nor should it, because it was NOT a subsidy. The price of oil skyrocketed when war broke out in 2003, and remained high for more than a decade. Subsidies encourage over production. The Iraq war did the exact opposite. It depressed output, and pushed up prices.
You obviously think the Iraq war was dumb, but it is also obvious that it was even dumber than you think. We paid more in excess oil prices than we spent on the war itself.
SVMs are used in machine learning, which is a branch of AI.
Data mining is a much better term
"Data mining" and "machine learning" are two orthogonal concepts. You can do data mining with or without machine learning. Machine learning can be used for many things besides data mining.
this is mere data analysis. or is that what so called "AI" amount to?
"Mere" data analysis is when a human looks at the data and tries to find patterns. But it is "AI" when the algorithm is open ended, and finds it's own patterns and correlations. That is "machine learning" is certainly a branch of AI.
You can't even tell if it's better than a coin toss. For this statistic to have any meaning at all you need to know the frequency the plaintiff wins.
Indeed. For instance, 99% of Japanese criminal cases end in conviction. So you could predict the result with 99% accuracy using the following algorithm:
1. Flip a coin 2. If it is heads, the defendant is guilty. 3. It it is tails, go to step 1.
I guess I'll keep reading the comments, hoping to find a real solution.
Here is the solution: When you see a crappy website, click on the "Contact Us" link, and send them a quick email explaining why their site sucks. Then (and this is the important part) tell them it violates the ADA by imposing unnecessary barriers to the elderly and disabled, and they should either educate their designer on usabilty, or consult with an attorney.
This move doesn't create an opportunity for arbitrage. It removes it.
Here is a free lesson in international marketing: Q: How do you price an American product for the British market? A: You change the dollar sign to a pound sign.
This simple rule of thumb has been true for at least 30 years.
if you need it to be an escape key, then it is.
Correct. Also, an ESC key is included on the touch bar by default. So if unless an app changes it, you have an ESC key.
Disclaimer: I just ordered a new 15" Macbook Pro for my wife. She is a vim user, so the ESC key is a mission critical necessity.

There's nothing intelligent about it. It's just fancy pattern-matching
Human intelligence is also "fancy pattern-matching".
back in the day you'd need a decent set of keys, preferably with a BMW or Porsche emblem
A BMW or Porsche will get you nowhere with Chinese girls. To impress them, you need a real premium brand, like a Buick.

Except 99.999% of people can't resist saying "See this? Looks real, right? I got it for $5."
That's because you're not the one they are trying to impress.

The petrochemical corporations have even persuaded governments to fight wars on their behalf.
That is still preferable to corporations waging war on their own behalf.
... then fed those clusters into a SVM.

Data mining is a much better term
"Data mining" and "machine learning" are two orthogonal concepts. You can do data mining with or without machine learning. Machine learning can be used for many things besides data mining.
Even if it is predictive, it relies on the 600 case training set being representative of future cases.
Human intelligence also relies on the future being similar to the past.

Budweiser has a very large brewery in Fort Collins. Right off I25.
And there is a large feedlot right next to it, where they collect the piss.
I'm guessing too big to fail also means too big for jail.
Nobody is going to jail because none of this is illegal. That is the problem.

It's not like there is a "free market" for gold.
Yes there is.
It's called a gold standard because a governing authority agrees to say a particular currency is worth X amount of gold.
Not a single country in the world does this. Zero. There is no "gold standard".
The value of the dollar is based on faith that people in power will continue to be competent and prudent.
The value of gold is based on faith the many people will continue to be greedy and selfish.
Which is a better bet?
