    Coincidence?

Right after reading this article I found this Free Cell Solver 2.8.7 on Freshmeat.

It's even available as a Win32-version. :)Now his boss would have been able to solve the solitaires WHIL working! And multitask as a real Amiga-owner.

  2. LAME tool for LAMERS! on Farb-Rausch Releases PC Demo Creation Software · · Score: 2, Interesting

Anyone recall TRSI DEMO MAKER for Amiga or the numerous "demo/doc-makers" for C64? This is again the same type of tool for lamers who want to be "DemoCoders" by just clicking a few buttons.

I've lost the count of all "Demos" I swapped in the old days thay just turned out to be another variant of the Pre-sets in TRSI DemoMaker. Even worse, I found an old VHS-copy of a movie where *I* had made an intro before the film, with a self drawn logo, crappy scrollertext and everything, all done on C64 with a crappy Demo-maker. (But Admit, I was way ahead of time with using Intros in copied movies :-) )

Correct. When we changed hardware platform from old PII 266 to new P4 2Ghz PCI-only machines we had to spend a while before finding a serial card that was able to supply us with 4 Serial ports + having 12+v to power the VFD.

I'm working as PC tech at a clothes retail company. We are using standard PC's with custom software for our POS-systems. They are equiped with booth a 10.4" TFT, Custom keyboards and aswell there is a 2 row VFD-display for them.
I've hooked up the 10.4" displays and used them as extra monitors for my PC. the VFD-display demands 12volt output from the serial which a normal PC dont supply. So you need a custom Serial card for that, but since it's a standard VT100 compatible display, it's easy to send information to. I've used it as a Network information display. And why not hook up 4 to display Stock ratings, virus info, RSS-feed from slash? :)

So WHAT IM A TRYING TO SAY? :)

POS-systems are often replaced. Its easiest to replace THE whole thing. This means that there is a huge market with used POS-systems that you can buy DIRT CHEAP. You can probably figure the rest :)

  5. Too Expensive on Lego to Stop Producing Mindstorms · · Score: 1

Lego has as long as I remembered tried to squeze every little penny out of the customers. They really live for "less is more". But in this case its more in their pockets. My 4yrs son got a *HUGE* Lego explorer box at hist birthday this week. The box was like 70cm*40*15. But concisted of a very small number of buildingblocks/figures/cars etc. My mother had paid $120 for it in the store. I'd rather say that $50 is a fair price. Talk about no value for the money. Speaking to my friend the reaction is almost the same. Why should they receive NEW EXPENSIVE Lego sets. The kids can go with the old LEgo that we had when we where young.
