  1. Just look at Photoshop's development on GIMP Core Mostly Ported to GEGL · · Score: 1

Photoshop barely works with 16bit images and of those features only some of them work in 32 bit everything only works in 8bit and even then you cant work in any sort of linear space. It's really sad that Photoshop which is supposed to be the king of 2d graphics cant add pixels together correctly, or even mulitply out an alpha channel. Let alone be consistent across the full range of bit depths they "support". I work with this kind of stuff everyday and have been following the development of Gimp and as slow as it is at least they have a plan and are working to it. Photoshop may have 32bit support by CS 21 at the rate they're going. One of their new features was a dark interface.. seriously.

Freespace was one of the coolest games ever.. and 2 was kept everything that was cool about 1 only more of it.. more ships more aliens.. what was not too love? Espcially since there are no good space ship games any more, come on they would be so cool now. I want my Freespace 3!

  5. adobe linux? on Premiere Back on Mac · · Score: 2, Interesting

I'm still wondering why adobe doesnt make it's own linux system to run it's products. Adobe products are a big reason why people by the computers they do, weither it be a pc or a mac. Adobe is constantly competing with microsoft and apple in the software componets, even more so with microsofts version of pdf. So why doesnt adobe just come out and compete with apple and microsoft completely? Take ubuntu, put all the adobe software on it. and make it for ppc and x86? That would be a killer combo in the creative feild. You could even have trial live cds jsut to test it out. Get rid of all the window's problems, step outside of some of the mac funkieness and bring people to unix in a new creative way. Just an idea.

  6. saw one at siggraph last year on High Dynamic Range Monitors · · Score: 1

I saw a hdr display from brightside tech either last year or the year before at Siggraph a conference on computer graphics. I thought it was such a cool Idea untill I saw it in person. They had a few images up and one was of a sunset, it was like looking directly at a sunset, pretty amazing but ULTRA bright. So bright that I didnt want to look at it and my eyes couldnt adjust to it. Why buy a display so you have to have sunglasses too look at it?

Maybe apple will start adopting other open standards like jabber. I mean come on.. they throw a few bucks tworads jabber and poof! Everybody wins, apple gets a chat protcal everybody can use... apple gets something they can update and add features too and now they wont be tied to one of the major evil empires ( microsoft, aol ) But if you go along with that thinking why dont they release a version of open office for mac, and call it Apple works ( and this time it would )
