I agree with the point that you raise about getting management to pony up for software. And that it's just some jackass who didn't want to be bothered with going through channels to acquire software. However, often times there is an open source piece of software that does the job, and is free.
I bet if MS had used Audacity for their sound files, that would raise at least the same amount of outcry that we have here about them using a pirated version of SoundForge. The only difference would be that the gist of the conversation would be "Ha ha, guess Microsoft doesn't hate OSS so much after all!"
Oh, the other difference would that MS would still be on the legal side of the law.
I'm not a constitutional scholar or anything, but I thought that the constitution mentions something along like whatever powers not bestowed to the federal government by the constitution belong to the individual states.
What Bush has said is that the power should belong to each state to make the decision. I agree with this, although I think that the states should choose to give equal rights to all people regardless of sexual orientation.
Personally, I'm dissappointed and angry that as Bush and Kerry continue to do and say the same things day after day, their actions are given front-page press each and every day. But the arrest of Badnarik and Cobb don't merit a single word from a single major news source.
I've just written emails to FOX, ABC, NBC, and CNN registering my dissappointment with them, and suggest that everyone else do the same.
In the media dominated culture that the US has, it won't be until third-party candidates are recognized by the media that they will begin to be seen as legitimate by the public. Speak out to get them the coverage that they need.
But you make a good point- and if there's *any* supra-uranium metals nearby, the gamma ray could trigger fission.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought that fission was caused by low energy neutrons. Gamma rays, and even high energy massive particles would not result in fission in any nearby fissile material.
Most of the good e-learning that I've seen is custom developed for corporations, either in-house or by contractors, and thus is not commonly seen by people outside of the corporation. I've only got a couple of years in the field, but I've seen some pretty decent simulation based e-learning.
This Leadership Simulator sounds like a pretty ambitious project. I think I'll give the book a read.

Considering the fact that my dream setup comes to a cool $15k USD.
