"Regular" ISPs log a user or account identifier, start time, and end time for each session that uses a dynamic IP. When an ISP is presented with a subpoena or other valid court order from a law enforcement agency that includes an IP address, date, and time (with proper timezone information); the "regular" ISP returns the name of the user or account along with every other piece of information it has regarding that user and/or account to the law enforcement agency. The information from "regular ISPs" is not diluted at all just because dynamic IPs are used. ISPs vary in how they respond to subpoenas from other than law enforcement agencies.

Windows has the vulnerability. Web browsers and some versions of Outlook are the means that the malicious .wmf files are introduced into the operating system. Firefox and Opera can also be used to introduce malicious .wmf files, the difference is that Firefox and Opera ASK the user for confirmation before they download the files. I understand that newer versions of Firefox are misconfigured and do not handle .wmf files as Microsoft intended, this may be a case where a configuration error is actually a security feature.

Just how intuitive are the "polished" Linux app names of "Xine", "MPlayer", "Gnome Toaster"? Let's also forget that most of the applications you list (iTunes, Nero, Photoshop, WinAMP, WinDVD, etc) are not even native Windows applications. They are third-party and if the user went and bought or downloaded them they did so for a reason and obviously know what they do.

"Xine", "MPlayer", and "Gnome Toaster" are also third party applications and are just as intuitive as the Windows program names that you gave as examples. I do not have these applications installed on my KDE desktop system. I checked some of the other application names in the KDE menus and found that the menus include both the name and a description for all of the applications in the "Start" menus, e.g.; "KEdit (Simple Text Editor)", "Kopete (Instant Messenger)", "KSpread (Spreadsheets)".
