Not to mention that when you upgrade your computer, you music goes down with it in many cases forcing you to buy it again if you still want it. I've got mp3s from years ago still kicking around probably now being played on their third or fourth computer.

Interesting, except I don't believe many people would stick around to seed. THe great thing about http for me is that it's more like casual sex than a long term relationship.

No, movies are not a REPLACEMENT for a book, but can tell a different story as a result of their different, visual medium. That's what it comes down to. Lord of the Rings captured the feel for the land that is so significant to Tolkien's trilogy. I didn't enjoy it otherwise because of its length. It was too ambitious otherwise in the medium which generally requires a sense of moderation in grandiose and an understanding of the limits of film - that a film cannot duplicate the function of a novel, instead only try to represent it. I feel it always a trap to try to adapt a book to the screen. I think in the case of Lord of the Rings, a director with a vision to take just a small part of the trilogy to the screen could've worked far better than Jackson. Of coruse, millions of people do not agree with me. They were technically brilliant, but lacked something the greatest epics have ('Ghandi' for example). Or perhaps it could've manifested itself in film in the form of something like Adaptation, where it took a terrible novel and made it into something quite beautiful, if a somewhat unregocnisable version of "the Orchid Thief". I think in discussing the Watchmen, Lord of the Rings is a fantastic starting point - a film which overtreads and ultimately misses its mark. Good luck Paul Greengrass (if he takes on the project)!

Did you see Bloody Sunday? Think different film (but similar in many ways) and the camera of the Bourne Identity on a low budget. And you thought all indie films were about gay cowboys eating pudding.

Me too. I've used Siemens phones since the first phone I got (MC35) which I used until the battery died on me and thought it was time for an upgrade.

My MC60 is terrible. Clutter of icons, unusable buttons you have to MASH to have respond and they're in a weird shape. The camera must be the worst camera in existence. And that's really the problem, it's just like my other phone, but the new features seem to have become the selling point. My old phone did everything this new one does, albeit in a more roundabout way.

The features I use are still the same: SMS, Phone Calls, Phone book. And I'm glad Apple are brining out a new colour iPod because I have been eyeing the iPod off for soemt ime and hope the price falls.

    Here's hoping.

They're not rational human beings. They'll grow out of it eventually, when more will come to take their place. Many of us here, probably, have had a go with packetflooders. Once upon a time in 1998 i took down a cable modem and I was on a 56k. That was fun seeing his name drop off the IRC chatroom. But, I got over it and now hardly can use a computer.

Absolutely, 4gb is not excessive, but definately enough to serve the most important purposes of the iPod - disc space and portability. Now, if it were a mobile phone too it would sell even _MORE_.

You're just lucky. My discman broke today when I dropped it. I got it for Christmas, this is the first time I've dropped it before.

The reason I would love to have an iPod right now is that it has a durable casing and feels solid.
