I haven't seen it mentioned yet, but there is also a plugin that has been made for Windows Media Center that uses Hulu.
The site is: secondrun.tv and right now it is definitely beta, but it does work and I believe would be something the "suits" would also be opposed to.
How many have thought, "With Hulu and a WMC / Boxee solution, I can cancel my cable/satalite bill"?!
I am currently one of those getting ready to put an old school antenna back up and start using those airwaves again, in conjunction with my window media center!
Why is this being brought up now as something new? IE7 has been doing practically the same thing since it was released.
I agree that there should be something "open source", but this is far from new...
DFS distributes the files, meaning that it copies them to the servers that are in the link. This doesn't sound like it is going to be exactly what he is looking for unless he wants to be limted in every share.
If you think of it this way:
Server 1: 40 GB Space Server 2: 30 GB Space Server 3: 50 GB Space
Well your DFS Root could combine this space theoretically into one root, but each share would technically only have the space that is available on that server and not one big pool. So each share would be able to look like this:
Share 1: 40 GB Space Share 2: 30 GB Space Share 3: 50 GB Space
Also DFS is used a lot of the time for replication. So find your lowest common denominator and you can replicate all of that data across all of your servers!
If all of their consumers followed in your footsteps it wouldn't be hard to imagine why they are going out of business. While we enjoy those low prices, the stores are hoping we are going to pick up a $30 3-foot USB cable too. Too bad for them we have the internets.
For years I really wondered if the guys playing these games were getting paid to say "nice things". This whole thing has just confirmed that sentiment.
Instead of reinventing to look and be alternative, they are now considering the pirate theme.

Maybe I meant... All your blocks are belong to us...
All your base are belong to us

Right after that he was screaming "Don't Tase me Bro!"

Accessing it would be easy though:
\\dfsroot\Share 1
\\dfsroot\Share 2
\\dfsroot\Share 3

Can you say 28 days later?
It actually is cost prohibitive right now...
I doubt it will take long for it to become priced right for these companies.
The real question is, how long is it before the average consumer becomes apathetic about buying and eatting cloned meat.
Amen
Man after visiting that site all I can say is it seems like something that some fanboy would have pumped up to the frontpage of Digg.
