Well I have A dual bachelors in both CS and MIS, over 10 years experience in the field and a great passion for IT yet have been unemployed since august. I have found things like a tiny part time tech job on the weekends that gets 13 or so hours a week but overall I currently can not find a job, an its not for a lack of trying. Of course the fact that I live in Seattle hurts, last job I interviews at I was #212/533 people going for a single position.
Nobody gives a shit that it runs at a lower clockspeed. They don't? Intel charges an assload of money for a p4-E 3.8G care to explain how a 3000+ amd I have in my room (base clock speed of 1.8 ghz) can run at almost the same equivilant as the p4 not to mention can be overclocked to 2.5 ghz making it outperform the p4 on stock cooling?
Nobody gives a shit that it uses very slightly less power. I seriously beg to differ here especially if you are running more then one, not to mention less power = less heat.
And the fact it runs in 64-bit mode is totally fucking irrelevant if you're running Windows (like just about all of Dell's customers). Windows 64 comes out in april officially, and what about people who do not wish to run windows?
And as for the rest your stupid to buy a prebuilt pc anyways;) so who cares hehe
Well they could just switch to pc's and use a media center expander, does everything this does plus has video.
I think that the most obvious solution will fit each family differently. I know with my family i have a computer at every tv in the house, each computer has been custom fit into a vcr/dvd player type housing so it looks no different then the rest of teh equipment, I even wired some buttonts to the front for changing sources;) but all in all its a pc, sure you can surf from the couch (only in the living room where the hdtv is the rest of the tv's have too low resolution to surf easily), it also allows me to rent movies online and stream them to any screen in the house, or if your an avid fan of emulators like myself you ahve snes / nes emulators etc running on all of them so you just plug in a controller and go. Not to mention what about DVR recording? How many people want to pause live tv or record there favorite shows digitally, this little gem does not allow that but having a computer at the tv does, not to mention its a heck of alot cheaper then buying 4-5 devices to do the things 1 can do. Only downside I have now is after switching to digital cable I can't use my media center's channel listings etc i have to cahnge channles on the digital box.
I am not really sure how this is newsworthy since 3dlabs created a graphics card with over 512 megs of onboard memory in september of last year.
I personally purchased my wildcat Realizm 200 in october of last year. Yes I was way too cheap to purchase the 800 which has 640MB of memory on board. These cards blow ATI and Nvidia out of the water, although the price isn't very affordible in most cases. The fact still remains 512 megs of VRAM is nothing new some of us have had it for some time now.
Well first off your not this has no merrit since your going digital -> analog to listen to the CD. Not to mention the fact that a cd is nothing more then 48KHZ Stereo Signal so what is the point?
However, if you for some reason do not want to get the cabling or something to do this there is a much easier way. Simply select what you hear as your recording source (this option is only on relativly nice sound cards usualy). Play the CD and Record it at the same time;). Or you could just get a program that rips by using analog cables running into the cd drive.
Simple fact is its impossible to make a cd "not-rippable" that is just silly. Since a cd is nothing but lands an pits recording the output of the music cd there is no way someone could make it where you can not take the audio data and restore it someplace else. Plus wouldn't that be a violation of our rights to make a copy of our music for ourselves. It's everyone that copies music to give to friends or share on the web that make the music industry create ficad's like this so that they think it is not possible to do anymore.
Quite frankly I am at a loss for words. I really try to stay open minded and accept all arguments when people are talking about computers, however, I simply do not understand the need/want of an IPod. I mean firstly it has a battery that is a pain in the ass to change, and if you have no technical skills you have to pay Apple out the wazoo to get it changed. Secondly it has a very limited data capacity why buy something with 40Gigs when there are 60 and 80 gig devices out there? Now I know this thread is talking about a "new" microsoft device for under $50, pfft I believe that when I see it. I do however know that creative and sony are both making a PMC unit with microsoft, (creatives coming out first of course), http://us.creative.com/products/product.asp?catego ry=3&subcategory=169&product=9882 now these units will undoubtably be alot more then $50 but they have video and audio, not to mention creative is coming out with 20/40/60/80 gig versions of these AND they have tv outs on them for the person on the move. Now grant it the one thing that seems to be seriously missing from players is really nice encryption, quite frankly ive been playing files in PCM 16 bit stereo for really good quality. My question is since PMC is just a spinof of windows CE it should technically have a registry that is accessible and everything just like a PDA running windows. This to me gives us the hope of being able to install any codec we wish into the unit, (possibly through a hack only). I know other people see different then I do and that is fine, but in my humble opinion the IPod is a piece of junk, other then the cool 3rd party extras you can purchase for it. I am by far not a huge microsoft fan but really how difficult is it to beat a player with a 40GB hdd that has limited codec playback abilities and has been known to have a fair share of hardware problems. Oh not to mention the lack of a AC port for us people who do not wish to charge off the firewire port. Ok getting of my soap box now.

Maybe that is exactly the point? MS releases its code as "shared" but then when someone accidently uses ms code in something bingo they take them out.

You can find info at there webpage

True did not think of that ;) I was looking at a 48Khz signal at the time lol! Still the same thing applys.
