Ya...they tend to be safer because of all of the other jackasses that drive SUVs. It created its own nasty cycle. Having said that, you can NOT say, across the board that SUVs are safer. SUVs tend to be in more accidents because low performance drivers dumbly believe they are "safer", therefore, they can drive faster and closer; thinking, screw the other drivers...I'll be safe.

SUVs also suffer significantly from roll overs and loss of control at high speed. These types of accidents often cause significant injury, or death, for all involved. I personally believe all SUVs over a specific weight class should require a governer which prevents speeds in excess of 80mph. That sounds crazy, but I can't tell you how many times I see these things with lowperformance drivers tooling along at 90 - 100 mph, while they talk on the phone...and gosh...what a surprise that idiots like them kill themselves or others.

The long of the short, SUVs have become a status symbol for small penis men. The VAST majority (based on 2004 number; 72%) of SUVs never carry more than four people. Of those that 72%, 80%+ of them normally drive around with a single occupant. Likewise, some 80% (again 2004 numbers...probably even worse today) never tow anything or go off road. We would have lower gas prices, lower insurance rates, less polution, and vastly safer roads if it were not for SUVs. The only plus here is that small penis drivers are being removed from the gene pool.

Just some food for thought. And yes...I completely agree...which was exactly my point...there need not be a paranormal explanation for any of this...should anything actually exist (doubtful).

My point being...perhaps there really is some scientific validation of what some have called telepathy. People often associate words with cultural meanings...for example, UFO's REALLY do exist. Absolute fact. Period. But people immediately equate that to be ET from space. A UFO is any unidentified, fly object..most any plane will do. In otherwords, don't let your bais automatically associate something that *may* have factual basis for what is often considered superstition. After all...common to much lore and myth is often some tidbit of truth. You may well be right (I actually agree)...but a little scientific study never hurts to validate what we think we know. ;) After all, it would be cool if some humans actually had a sixth sense of some type...founded in scientific fact.

Considering many animals use what could be dubbed, "telepathy" (using that word makes me cringe). Many, many animals have sensativity to electromagnetic information from both their environment and other creatures around them. In most species the exact purpose and type of information of this abiity is completely unknown; or at least minimally understood. For example, sharks can sense each other and prey...possilby signal to one anothers. In fact, it's thought the last several feet of a great white shark strikes are performed strictly by this sense as their eyes are rolled back and closed. Initial tests have confirmed that EM generation during this phase can confuse them, causing them to miss. Rays and skates often use this to sense to locate prey hidden just under the sea floor. Some species of eels actually use it for communication (breeding signals, warning...etc... with lots still unknown) Pigeons use it for direction finding like a compass, using visual cues to correct like a VFR pilot with a compass. So it's not far fetched at all to wonder if this mechanism is also available in a select few, higher order animals. If it were available, the exact nature of information conveyed is certainly open for debate.

Absoluetely agree. Most people do not use the word, "terrorist", properly...I believe this is on purpose by law enforcement and it's simply translating to the press and the man on the street. Law enforcement is trying to use it whenever possible because it often enables additional power, harsher sentences, and less rights for those they accuse. This is bad for everyone as *everyone* is now considered a terrorist. This will ultimately delute their power when people pull their heads from their asses and realize the police have been very abusive here.

Most definitions of "terrorism" are variants on the original (French) definition: Attacking civilian noncombatants in order to put pressure on their government.

I would say you're 95% there with your definition. I would reword it as: Attacking civilian, noncombatants, in order to create choas and disfunction within society by creating mass fear within the affected population, thereby forcing pressure on the assciated government. In other words, people do bad things that may scare others, but if the INTENT is not squarely aimed at causing political change, it most certainly is NOT terrorism.

Terrorist. Most everyone else you mention are simply nut jobs. The word terrorist is tossed around far, far, far too often often, especially by law enforcement. I believe you're making the same mistake.

Let's be realistic here, which I believe was your intent...there are non-Arab and non-Muslim terrorists in the world. That, no one doubts. Having said that, right now, at this point in time, they are the *most likely* source of terrorist activity. Like so many things, profiling is woefully misunderstood by the press and especially the public at large. Sadly, this often translates poorly to the enforcement officier on the street that has taken it on themselves to do just that.

Think of profiling as a list of check boxes. If you have a lot of check boxes checked, some of which may include nationality, then that person should be further interrogated. Sadly, your average TSA agent or policeman on the street simply use a one check box system, which screws everything up. Profiling is a PROVEN technique...it's the layman's interpretation and common street implementation which is completely screwed up. Profiling, especially by agencies like the FBI, CIA, and NSA have been extremely successful at catching people. And yes, that profiling often includes race and/or religion. Saying it's ineffective is simply ignorant of the facts and the reality of the situation.

I do agree that untrained people which attempt to implement their own form of self trained profiling is ineffective and often wasteful of law enforcement resources. But let's be clear here and not give the wrong impression. The problem here is one of stupid people doing stupid things...not that profiling is bad or ineffective. Again, to be clear, profiling is an awesome and excellent tool...*if used properly by properly by trained, intelligent people*.
