And unlike the bullshit which is constantly pushed into people's faces, voting third party is NOT a wasted vote. With that dumb logic, voting for anything other than the winner is a wasted vote.

Now, there are still a surprisingly large number of people who can afford to pay the depreciation on a Gulfstream and can afford to employ a professional flight crew. But that's a way smaller number than those who can afford a Cessna Stationair or a 180 or whatever.

That doesn't sound even remote possible. Besides, the operational differences between the former and later are night and day. It doesn't make sense to turn the key on a trip less than 500 miles for something like a Gulfstream. Likewise, for trips over 500 miles, the later suddenly becomes a lot more attractive. Furthermore, for those shorter distance trips, weather isn't typically an issue for a forward looking pilot.

Besides, the flight profile for jets versus piston are also in stark contrast. Most pistons will fly somewhere in the 3,000 - 12,000 MSL range. Most jets will fly in the 20,000 and above range. That alone dictates big differences in their use. A low flying jet (in typical SE piston range) is slow with horrible fuel burn. A low flying single only typically sees a slight difference. Ideal or piston is short haul at the cited altitudes. Ideal for jet is long haul at the cited altitudes. Those are big, practical differences.

Plus, a SE piston typically has many more choices of airports. Jets typically require larger ancillary or a primary. In some states this isn't much of an issue. In others, its an extra two hour turn around on the ground. Granted VLJs are working to somewhat change this aspect.

Plus, operational expenses for turbine versus piston is huge. Piston is typically measured in hundreds of dollars. Turbine is typically measured in thousands of dollars. Granted you can carry a lot more people in a jet, but most trips typically require only one or two people plus baggage - which is exactly why VLJs have such an appeal to the jet crowd.

Something that amuses me about you Americans is that most of your internet media outlets like /. are so rabidly against the Republicans, but instantly run to the defense of your party of Democrats. Surely they do wrong things, too?

IMOHO, its more of a soci-economic divide. By in large, Republicans are considered the rich, white man's party while Democrats are considered to be the poor and uneducated party. Statistically, there is some legitimate basis to those categories. Unfortunately, it also means many that bash the Republicans do so because they've been led there like sheep rather than because of intellect. So when there is something legitimate to complain about, they don't know they should complain because no one has told them too yet. Which is not to say there isn't some of that on the other side - see Fox News entertainment/editorials and their supports, as a counter.

The real problem isn't with Ds and Rs. The problem is that things (laws and rules) are really broken in Washington and the majority believe that by changing people inside of a broken system, will somehow magically fix things. They don't seem to get the ONLY way to fix things is to fix the system, not just the people in the system.

Opps - car analogy. Its like having a broken car. People know its broken and they want to fix it. The problem is, the tool salesmen tells them they need tool A (D). The other tool salesmen they need tool B (R). So these people keep buying all these different tools, mostly which don't even fit or work, and haven't yet figured out that simply changing a wrench when the car is already on fire isn't really going to change things, let alone fix it. So what we end up with is a bunch of different tools running around Washington, with our country burning, and no one willing to actually put out the fire. Rather, people just keep trying a different tool and can't seem to figure out why nothing improves.

They only care about what issues who pay them the most. The ONLY way you can hope to begin to change things to is drastically change election laws, change lobbying laws, strike down the recent anonymous campaign and advertising laws, and stop allowing companies to be represented twice (company and the people of the company).

As a starter, until we stop empowering a system which gives companies twice the political clout of every day people, there is zero hope for any real change; no matter how much the word, "change", comes out of their mouth. Likewise, high RPM typically means low displacement with and associated lower reciprocating mass.

Improvements in materials and manufacturing capabilities has steadily been allowing for a move to the center which provides for a more idealized realization of the two ideologies while realizing yet additional benefits; which you are highlighting.

Its literally like talking with retarded children and any effort to simply educate them on the facts results in trolling and troll moderation. Furthermore, since the majority are also uneducated children, then don't (seemingly) even known they are tyrannically supporting both censorship and ignorance while halting all reasonable discussion. Either that or they absolutely know everything I'm saying is valid and they are censoring out of malice. Likely some combination of the two is true.

Regardless, when having these discussions, its impossible to have a sane, reasonable conversation without defining what it is we are discussing. When people conflate things, it only serves to censor and/or hide the facts by blurring legitimate talking points on either side of the fence.

But I think even if the "Book is thrown at you" that these fines are completely out of line and only illustrate how corrupt the process is and how our "justice" system has been captured by corporate interests.

First off, its not a fine. Its a punitive damages judgment. Fines go to the courts and/or government. Judgments go to the plaintiffs.

Secondly, your argument does not indicate its been "captured by corporate interests". Though I will be the first to admit such situations are absolutely rampant these days.

The big problem here stems from the fact that basically all of economics, hundreds of years of data, all say these corporations have been harmed. Secondly, pirates seem to believe that their pirating only affects huge corporations and that's completely false. EVERYONE is negatively affected by pirating, except the pirates.

Third of all, pirates pretend that good is done by pirating. No studies support that position. None. Not one. What some non-vetted studies (which are what pirates push) indicate is that there may be some net positive market effect from pirating. They then take a leap of faith and presume that the positive completely countered their negatives.

Their logic works like this. I pirate A, B, C, and D. I like D so I buy D. The logic goes on that the net affect is that D benefited and because I pirated D, it resulted in a sale. BTW, this has been dubbed the "viral effect." And because of this effect, its possible than D may greatly benefit over and above what may otherwise have taken place. But it completely ignores the fact that A, B, and C were harmed. Pirates simply wave a hand to dismiss that anyone is harmed but hundreds of years of economics say they were harmed. For pirates to be correct, it basically invalidates all current economic models. So pirates have a lot to prove and to date, absolutely no evidence. None. Not one bit. To counter this, they then put forward this imagined leaps of faith in non-vetted studies to suggest that only they have any idea of the subject matter.

Copyright Royalty Board runs things in US, pays about .20cents per track.

This is another red herring. We are part of a free market. Their back end costs or even discounted rates have absolutely no part in this discussion. None. Not one bit. If you steal good from a store, is the component price, wholesale price, or retail price used against you? Exactly. The component price or even heavily discounted wholesale prices have absolutely no bearing.

Not to mention, pirates seem to forget that the ONLY reason damages are so difficult to determine is because the actual damages are so difficult to determine. They then pretend that a pirated song is only ever pirated once. So citing a "cost" of $0.20 is completely out of context and completely without merit.
