This is good news - its not exactly a giant leap forwards but it is important all the same. Improved collison detection is not just good for games its good for modelling. For example a physics teacher could teach his students about the ideal gas law using a series of blender animations.
The other day I was trying to find out what audiobooks are available from iTunes. To my horror I couldn't browse the catalogue, I wasn't looking for clips just a plain old list of authors and titles, maybe even a list by category. Hopefully, someone can now create a browser plugin that will enable people to browse iTunes without owning an iPod. If I knew what was available from iTunes I would be much more likely to buy an iPod Mini instead of other solid state players such as Creative's Muvo TX. If other people are thinking like this then potentially Apple could get a bit of buisness out of this.
Realising you are being mocked by Slashdot and the rest of the world because they can see the outline of your nuts through the spandex: Priceless.
There are somethings I do want to see. For everything else there are codpieces

Although accurate software models of the earth's climate and weather conditions don't exist. There is certainly the hardware to run it. The worlds most powerful supercomputer the Earth Simulator is designed to be able to accurately model the earth. Hopefully advances in software modelling will enable us to actually make good use of all that raw processing power.
First of all search engines cost us nothing. Secondly it possible to do decent academic research.
Go to Yahoo advanced Search and go to the Site/Domain section then to the only search in this domain/site form. Then simply type in ".edu.ac.uk.org" now that wasn't too hard was it?

I came accross this SF project a few weeks back I thought I'd post it for the benefit of the slashdot readers. OSS for Windows
