It would be really cool if google made a TV guide search. For example, if I could go to Google UK and type "BBC1 NOW" - google would tell me what was on BBC1 at the moment. It would be even better if it allowed to specifiy a date and time eg "BBC1 24/12/04 22:00". Now that would be really useful:)
On the subject of useful things for google - how about a currency converter? The convenience of being able to go to Google and type "$10 in £" rather than using XE.com would be pretty cool as well.

Have a look here at the compatible music stores. It is drag and drop comptible with Windows Explorer and is Microsoft "Plays For Sure" compatible.
What I want to know is when iTunes will be released for Windows 98? Something tells me its never going to happen but surely it wouldn't be that difficult for apple to release iTunes for win 98?
Surely the best solution is to install a DVD drive and then simply post them a load of DVD-Rs. Perhaps it might even be cheaper to use a CD drive and a load of CD-Rs. As long as sufficient instructions are provided the installation of an optical drive should be fairly straight forward.
In the UK we have a bit of a problem with drunken violence. You average city centre simply isn't safe after 9:00pm at the Weekend. Nearly every town and city centre has cameras installed (infact my town does and that only has a population of 10,000). These cameras do not act as a detterant but instead they often help the police catch he criminals involved. This does actually make the streets safer because it enable the police to convict criminals therby reducing the number of criminals walking our streets. Ok, so these cameras aren't an ideal solution but if the choice was between 'privacy' and safety I know which one I'd go for. Seems how I don't break the law I don't really care if the police can watch walking along the street.
Hopefully google will adopt RSS rather than Atom. I don't know why but I've always preferred RSS. Incase you are thinking WTF here are some links courtesy of Wikipedia: RSS Atom
Note: These pages are a bit thin on detail but contain some useful links if you want to find out more
As far as Linux and Gentoo are concerned this can only be a good thing and it is certainly a very positive step. For those interested in finding out a bit more about what this actually means here are a couple of Wikipedia links: Non Profit Corporations Non Profit Organizations
The tech demo is how Sony PlayStation 2 was able to stifle the Sega Dreamcast despite platform parity early on.
I think in this case the author is exaggerating the importance of tech demos. I wonder what % of Dreamcast or PlayStation 2 owners have actually seen either of the two tech demos? I think the simple fact that the PS2 was backwardly compatible was much more significant then some stupid tech demo
If you are the only ones in your market to "offer Linux software solutions" then you are shooting yourself in the foot by open sourcing the drivers. In other words the only thing that seperates you from your competitors right now is your linux drivers and by giving them away you are levelling the palying field and removing your main advantage.
This is why you may struggle to convince the management that open sourcing your drivers is a good thing(TM). I think your best chance of convining the management is if you present to them a number of case studies of companies open sourcing drivers. For example, Intel releasing modified open source drivers for Centrino chispets. I also think that you will need to present an effective system for managing the open source project.
Just to clarify - I meant that the lack of a monoculture was a strength of Linux when it comes to Security. The downside to this is that it makes Linux less accessible to new users and you were right to point this out.
What you have said isn't really true. One of the major strengths of Linux is the lack of a monoculture. Most distributions come with 3 or 4 web browsers, e-mail programs, and media players etc. It would take a very good hacker to find a generic security hole in every program.
The only other option would be to try and exploit a security hole in the Kernel. Given that not everybody runs the same Kernel this would also prove difficult.
Have you bought other bear suits and then had difficulty getting laid? With this new ground breaking suit it is simply no longer an issue.
If in the unlikely event that you purchase our bear proof suit from eBay and still can't get laid simply use the 'robotic third arm' - satisfaction guaranteed.

In the original Slashdot article your "geurrilla marketing" technique is mentioned - could you elaborate on this please? In particular did you really heavily on word of mouth?
