Windows is not that bad. Everyone says "oh, look at all the security holes," and yes, there are holes. But I'm willing to bet that Linux has twice as many. The holes in Windows are noticeable because it's profitable to find them.

clearly we have hit another speedbump in video technology development, and if history serves as a good model we'll have to see a real revolution in architecture rather than speed before we can start moving away from brute-force improvement again.

Of 10 problems related to software I see, probably 9 are spyware-related. I can install and run Spybot and Ad-Aware with my eyes closed and one hand tied behind my back.
Spyware makers need to be prosecuted, plain and simple. They're creating a problem that is much worse than spam, especially in cases when their programs are debilitating to a system. Their creations are no less than viruses.
I think it's appropriate... if there's a widely published law that says "NO SPAM... blah blah blah" then you have to follow it... there's no argument that it's a matter of free speech.
SPAM is like door to door marketing, only the guys are lined up at your door all the way around the block twice....And Dubya funded stem cell research using existing cell lines and illegalized the harvest of new cells from embryos. I don't see a contradiction there.
My father has DirecWay, and it's not a good idea for a professional.
It's not networkable, has awful low points during business hours, and goes out whenever it rains, snows, or is unusually cloudy. plus leaves break it till you get them off the dish.

Why doesn't Apple just send out an update to do same? Seems obvious to me.
