Difference between removing DRM completely and making your DRM compatible with their hardware.
Nice try though. BTW, remember who first did streaming music? It sure wasn't Apple.

Getchyer TINFOIL HATS. I got TINFOIL HATS. Excellent quality, low low prices! I've got all the latest styles and for the budget-aware, generic reproductions of all the top brands. Keep your brain safe from wandering eyes!
I'm not a big fan of "electronic" sounding music. I find far more lasting appeal in more classical sounding background.
Take for example, the great work by Jeremy Soule, one of my favorite composers. His theme for "Total Annihilation" is one of my favorite bits of ANY music.
It reminds me of a story I heard about Star Wars: A New Hope. Apparently it was originally going to have a nice electronic/"space" backtrack. Just think how it would have changed the movie to have some synthesized theme instead of William's awesome work?
There's no reason to cheapen game music just because we can.
There's a lovely, much more SECURE way to do this yourself. It's called slipstreaming and the instructions are fairly simple and can be easily found online.
Real is NOT removing DRM from iTunes files.
Streambox is more equivalent to PlayFair. And what did Apple do to PlayFair? (Hint, same thing Real did to Streambox.)
I don't like real. I recently cancelled our server license with them. However, if we want to be fair at all, they have improved their player a lot in the last bit (removing a lot of the annoying features).
It seems that/. has a firm hatred of Real that won't let them examine the case with any objectivity at all.
5 YEARS ago? How much has changed in the world of digital music in 5 years?! Real is no angel, but let's not ignore the fact that they HAVE listened and their current player is much better then their old offerings.
Riiiiiiight.
Apple is whining about interoperability because they don't like music published by Real. In AAC format. At a higher bitrate.
It all makes sense now.
Recently, I've noticed several publishers doing just that.
I don't remember all the games I've noted, but at least Tribes, and System Shock were among the well-known games release as free downloads.
Did I miss the announcement that DRM was being removed from Apple's AAC files? I can mass-covert them to handy MP3 format now so they'll play in my car?
No, it would be an automatic update that took place overnight without my intervention. (Assuming you have a basic ability to operate the control panel.)
IE may not be my favorite, but let's not turn into liars just because of that.
There is a limited spectrum that TV and other broadcasters can use. Because of that, it is regulated. Now, for any random crap someone with $$ wants to put up, there is the internet. (Not that TV isn't mostly crap, just explaining the regulation.)
Since the broadcast spectrum is considered a public resource, it is regulated in an attempt to make the best public use of it. Now, if that use doesn't coincide with your personal desires, I've pointed out that the internet provides much more varied offerings. Knock yerself out.
Call me crazy, but I don't recall you needing a license to install a fridge. However, I'm pretty sure that you do need a permit to build a house, and that yes, you do have to have certain documents handy when doing so.

So would the mac-atics.
Check ebay.
Read article. No exploit.

"At least it will stop most of the exploits out in the world now." Sounds like a pretty good deal to me.
Product? This is a free update. Flamebait score earned.

There's a difference between "press THE button at THE exact moment" and "press some buttons to do what you wanted to at your own pace".
Depends on the woman. :)

Probably the same way Apple did with PlayFair. For some reason /. seems to believe Apple is above the rules that apparently apply to everyone else.

Why doesn't Apple? (Hint, same answer.)

Call me uninformed, but what part of Infocom are we looking at?

I'm going to have to settle for my current (does math) 84" screen with a measly 5.1 sound. Ah well. :)
