  1. this is invaluable on Gadgets You Backpack Around the World With? · · Score: 1

Take a powerstrip. On endless amounts of travel, i've found that having a powerstrip in your bag with all of the stuff in it plugged in inside the bag allows for you to plug in one cord without exposing what you are charging to everyone around. Secondly, if you take a laptop, make sure to get an extremely strong sleave for it. I've dented my macbook in travels. Third, and this is entirely up to you, i always use the crappiest looking bag i can get my hands on for the outside of shell. People seem to assume that if it's a crappy bag, it contains crappy stuff. I like that post about the lock down pac or whatever. Hope you read this.

  5. Sick of it ALL on DRM and the Myth of the Analog Hole · · Score: 1

After years of people freaking out about DRM and the like, i can say only this .000000003 knows how to copy shit. It's (mp3-4) have been out forever. If this is a new thing to you then point being, forget about the DRM. nobody worth shit is copying anything. Do they want to crack down on the dude that sells homemade dvds on canal in nyc. he's big bucks, like ten big bucks or who are they after? stop paying dumbasses to chase the boogy man and enforcing small pieces of legislation that will someday add up to tracking your children from home to their domicile (aka the cage) where they can egg their life. we are the first world country. we have to accept that our well intentioned crap is going to end up very chaotic at the other end of the world. if it comes down to 4 dvds a year instead of 150 years of privacy legislation, then let the .00000005434 copy the screwy song/movie. it's out of the league of the average consumer.

  10. Kick ASS! on Linus Torvalds: Backporting Is A Good Thing · · Score: 1

To be honest, I feel that this is a good thing. While Linux has constantly has been pushing to make sure that everything plays nice with the newest hardware/software/airware, this stands firmly in the vein that created it to be the solution that it is today for development, servers, and a choice for the common person. Hats off (fuck is that a pun?) Linus, the tortist catches the rabbit once again.
