This article is completely off base. First of all, you can't possibly critisize Apple for a pirated build leaked a few days before the official release. However, Apple should be criticized for something else! Now, I love BSD and I think Darwin is great idea. In fact, I can't wait for them to port the OS to hardware that doesn't cost twice as much as it should. Why didn't apple port the OS a long time ago, and let the open source community adopt the software?

  18. Re:It's NOT History's Largest Mass Extinction on More Evidence For An Extinction Comet · · Score: 1

Actually, there are many "largest" extinction periods in earths history. Its a subjective matter in which you have to take into acount the number of species involved and the duration of the event. Perhaps the biggest would be the anarobic extinction caused by the saturation of the oceans and the atmosphere with O2. Most anarobic life was killed off and replaced with arobic life. That happend way back (1.5 billion yrs?) and it is impossible to accurately say whether it was 95 to 99% of species killed.

  20. Re:But this will take oxygen out of the air on A Million Bucks, Mach 7.6, Straight Down · · Score: 2

Yes. You can burn hydrogeon fairly easily on the ground and despite atmospheric conditions, the speed at which the aircraft is travelling actually creates enourmous pressures (and ammounts of O2). The problem with scramjets is that like their cousins ramjets, they must be taken to very high speeds before the engines can operate. Those speeds are estimated at around Mach 2 to Mach 4. This is because, the compression is achieved not with a turbine (as in a traditional jet) but with the velocity of the incoming air.

Give us a break. The whole point of linux is "do what works" not "do what's propper." Not to mention, why don't you quit gabbing about it and do it yourself. That's the beauty here. If you think Linus is doing an ass job, he actively encourages you to try and do better. You don't have to overrule him to make some changes, you just do it.
