This article is completely off base. First of all, you can't possibly critisize Apple for a pirated build leaked a few days before the official release. However, Apple should be criticized for something else! Now, I love BSD and I think Darwin is great idea. In fact, I can't wait for them to port the OS to hardware that doesn't cost twice as much as it should. Why didn't apple port the OS a long time ago, and let the open source community adopt the software?
Great Replace Microsoft with Source Forge. Don't let socialists like Boucher confuse the issues. I am all for open source. Don't let the government corrupt it with the money they raise from for-profits.
Actually, there are many "largest" extinction periods in earths history. Its a subjective matter in which you have to take into acount the number of species involved and the duration of the event. Perhaps the biggest would be the anarobic extinction caused by the saturation of the oceans and the atmosphere with O2. Most anarobic life was killed off and replaced with arobic life. That happend way back (1.5 billion yrs?) and it is impossible to accurately say whether it was 95 to 99% of species killed.
I can't wait to get everyone of those beautiful items. They will come in handy when I need something that will induce vommitting when someone at my office has swallowed poison.
Yes. You can burn hydrogeon fairly easily on the ground and despite atmospheric conditions, the speed at which the aircraft is travelling actually creates enourmous pressures (and ammounts of O2). The problem with scramjets is that like their cousins ramjets, they must be taken to very high speeds before the engines can operate. Those speeds are estimated at around Mach 2 to Mach 4. This is because, the compression is achieved not with a turbine (as in a traditional jet) but with the velocity of the incoming air.
Give us a break. The whole point of linux is "do what works" not "do what's propper." Not to mention, why don't you quit gabbing about it and do it yourself. That's the beauty here. If you think Linus is doing an ass job, he actively encourages you to try and do better. You don't have to overrule him to make some changes, you just do it.
Clearly, Apple is doing a good deed by opening the source to Dawin and OS X, and they should be praised for it. With regards to FSF, I appriciate their warning and the information they have provided. Trying to sift through weird licences is a pain in the butt and I'm glad the've done it for me. However, bickering over what is "free" and what is "not free" is a complete waste of time.
Of the 25% they fire from Slashdot, I hope the remaining staff takes a slightly new direction. I for one would like to see slashdot cut a bit of the "News for nerds" out and bulster the "Stuff that Matters." I am the worlds largest nerd, but
I am tired
of three articles a day on Napster and P2P
of the latest stupid way to cram linux into something better suited to be a toaster oven than a computer
of three articles a day on why Open Source is the answer to the universe (we know it is already!)
of the same article posted three times in the same day
Will someone explain where the holes are and their affects on light in a clearer manner?
CNET is claiming ATT is buying NorthPoint's assets.
Is it just me, or does anyone understand this legaleeze? At what point did lawyers stop using the English language?

Katz's pathetic social commentary is more suited for a Joan Beaz record.
AMD is releasing the jacked up Athlons but delaying the Palomino's.
Too bad you'll have to fork over $3500 for a 750Mhz CPU system to use it.
Katz you're a total moron.
You just enter in some default values:
- Name of the thing you are promoting
- some images, sound clips, other content
Then the engine out generate meaningless babble and fake postings, and all kinds of other BSThis question is far more baffling than the meaning of life.
Dell is in Austin Texas. I would image they wield some serious power down there.
Better cut that out. CMGI has a patent on that.
CMGI owns the patent on that.

Slashdot's "Stuff that matters" is a great example of a failed promiss.
- General Motors saying, We don't usually drive the cars
- Microsoft saying, We generally run linux in house, we haven't really used win2k.
- McDonalds saying, We are all vegitarians.

In all fairness to Caldera, the CEO wasn't comparing linux to win2k. He was comparing linux to other unix OS's.

- of clever signatures.
I'd like to see more of
