    Apple generally delivers products that match the hype of what they market. That makes them better than a marketing company. When apple products are released, the hype grows because people are not, generally, disappointed with what they bought.

    First they give everything more names to confuse things. How many things can there really be ? There was one ark. Everything fit on the ark. That things appear different is just a miracle from God. I'm waiting for the story to break that there are actually far fewer gods than the average fox viewer thought there was.

    If you are that scared of an unlikely event, Stay home. Don't get in a car. Don't walk across a street. Don't breath unfiltered air. Don't touch anything without gloves. Just stay in a padded room and enjoy your complete security.

    I would think that if I, chose, to photograph my home. I would also get to chose what is visible in the yard, through the windows, in the drive, etc. I can chose to share photos I chose to take, any way I want. I took them, they are how I want my property presented, they don't invade my privacy. Having Google driving onto my property and take photos is completely different, and the judge seems to agree. I would have awarded them more than $1. They need to find something they authored in the street view photos, and then sue Google for copyright infringement for each use of the image. I hear that copyright infringement can get tens of thousands of dollars per shared item.

    Still carbon based life. This is about the phosphorus in the backbone of DNA and high energy particles like ATP being replaced with arsenic. A non carbon life would use Si instead of C for example. In the wild these bacteria use phosphorus. In the lab they prefer phosphorus, but can be forced to use arsenic.

    Yeah, but the processes that use, say ATP, as an energy source, switched to high energy arsenic bonds too. The arsenic isn't limited to the DNA backbone.

    In the same boat as you. This year I plan to make a huge scene. Either yelling ""Stop molesting them, HELP !", or "HELP ! He is Touching My Penis! HELP !" I did not sign away my rights as part of the business transaction that took place between me and the airline I bought my ticket from. I won't fly again. I looked at train for the same trip. 5 extra travel days, $40 more. Worth it for me from this point on.

    I'd prefer that they just have a box people could mark on their bills, and if marked, they get sent a new directory. But with electronic payments thesedays, maybe it could just be an online thing to request a new directory.

    I do have a right to get on the plane. I purchased a ticket. I completed a business transaction. I did not sign away my rights as part of that deal. There is no justification to take away my rights in the name of security. I have the right to get on the plane I paid to be on, they do not have the right to take my rights away. If I didn't have the right to be on that plane, I would not have a ticket, and the airline would not have my money. If I pay the bus driver, I have every right to be on that bus.

    When I needed a water pump for my washer, I went to the book to get a listing of part suppliers in my area. The internet is great for finding parts, shitty for finding parts in stock, in my area, at a shop open today. The yellow pages are a great resource. But this FA was about the white pages. The residential listings. This is not about the yellow book of advertisers. That one probably pays for itself.

    In a power outage, my landline phone and phone book still work well. Having the directory on CDROM would do nothing for me. Having it online would not help me out either. Not everyone lives near a cellular tower.

    1) I haven't seen one yet. Not on the BART, not in the bars, not on the streets, not around work. Is it out ? 2) All of the ads I have seen show people using phones so obsessively interesting that they miss out on some real life around them. Microsoft promises to make a phone that doesn't grab the attention of the user the same way. How many people are really looking for a less interesting phone ?

    Well, the lights are there so I get to cross the street right ? I am going to cross the street. Waiting until the commute is over and the street is empty is not an option. Okay, you still with me. The cars have the choice, slow down, or stop and wait for a full light cycle. I'm crossing the street either way. The total time for everyone involved is less if we keep the lights out of this.

    If you WERE PAYING ATTENTION, you WOULD SEE ME. The reason drivers don't make eye contact is because they are not paying attention. Any driver paying attention would notice people near the street waiting to cross.

    My close door button works as expected. There is a sensor in the doors, wave hand to trigger sensor . . . hit close door button, doors close immediately. Without triggering the sensor that tells the elevator passengers have entered or exited the car, the button does nothing. So, if I get on the elevator and hit the button, the doors close immediately. If someone exits and I Hit the button, the doors close immediately. If the elevator stops at an empty floor, I can wave my hand to trigger the sensor and hit the button to shut the doors immediately. Its pretty obvious that we use different elevators, or we use elevators differently.

    I'm the jogger. If you would have looked, made eye contact, and given me the right away to cross, I would not have to hit that button. I KNOW it causes you a longer wait. As soon as you learn that it is faster to yield to the pedestrian than to wait for a whole light cycle, the situation will change. As it is, you show no sign of yielding, so I hit the button.

    Somebody should explain that the companies willingly let free market capitalism die. It was damn expensive having to maintain a navy to protect their trade. Once the companies let the government use their military to protect trade, there was no free market. The military, the government, and the companies were all now working together in a NOT free market. Some people want to believe the free market exists, but it does not. It has not for a long time. Belief in such a free market is a sign that no thought has been put into understanding the world. Like all religions, it requires faith, not intelligence to believe.
