In the same vein, a video alternative is being produced and tested at the moment. UK readers might have seen it on the news - it plays a video background on your 3G phone, so nobody can see where you really are. It made me realise the one downfall of 3G video over your phone - even the most mundane situation could look suspicious.

Not necessarily:
I saw pictures on an earlier link of it being done to an ATM completely different from the ones I use.
Here, our cards are also sucked right into the slot, but there's no label to obscure. Instead, it's just possible to check for tampering by feeling the inside of the slot for prongs.
Also, they DO work on bank ATM's; indeed, that's all I've heard of them being done on, here in the UK at least.
Just my take:)

Hey, there's lots of helpful comments, and a general overview, but hardly schematics man.
Anyways, just becaz we've been told about it doesn't mean we'll do it; it means we'll be more wary about others doing it.

He probably had one lying around, in this particular case. So maybe he just used that; cheaper than buying a new one, if he didn't need it anyways.

Which goes to show how rediculously versatile the iPods are in relation to almost anything. A task that important, for which they weren't designed, and STILL they're used, and STILL they perform amazingly well.
Impressive.

their ability to sell it is above anyone else out there.
Too true - with money, anyone can do anything, effectively. Or buy it, in many cases.

Thats very true. It's big businesses that drive the government to support whatever causes they do, in the end. It takes the businesses to see the opportunities the technology provides - and let's be honest, any business that hasn't by now has had its head in the sand - and then, as you say, the objectors don't stand a chance, in effect.
I for one can't wait to see what this does for us.

To us at least, that seems like a good deal. Which is why I'm buying my Powerbook at Easter in NYC. Over here in Northern Ireland and England, we pay 1200UKP at Apple resellers for a 12 inch Combo Powerbook. You guys would pay an equivalent of 880UKP at the Apple Store Soho in NYC.
Of course, that doesn't take into account economic factors et al.

Well with the ATM's here: 1 - insert card 2 - insert PIN 3 - request cash amount 4 - take card 5 - take cash 6 - leave. quickly. In reality, it's more like: 1 - insert card 2 - insert PIN 3 - request cash amount 4 - be told, 'Sorry, you do not have enough funds' 5 - take card 6 - leave. embarrassed. Andy :)

Someone actually posted something about it a while ago, but think it was just in a comment to another post. Still, impressive. pb_boi
