    look at what people with too much time on hands do to this world: crime, gangs, terrorists, cults, drug users --- most of societies ills are AVOIDED by making these people have jobs so they don't have free time.

    Completely unsubstantiated claim! As an example: why are there so many of those in the US, where people work crazy hours and have little time?

    A handful of people that cannot feed themselves simply IS less important than keeping a whole society functional.

    So a functional society for you is one where some people will have to raise their kids in poverty, hunger and violence in spite of having a full-time job? Do you realise that having a lot of poor people with no education lowers the productivity of the whole society?

    The gains in productivity will have to be shared by society, instead of being appropriated by a few. Which is what ended up happening with the Industrial Revolution, after all.

    I can see a future where everybody will get a wage, even not doing anything. Those who want to work, will. Those who want to spend their free money setting up a business, will. Those who want to spend money on hobbies, will. Nobody needs to be deprived of food, shelter or healthcare. But people who choose to work or set up a business will have more money to spend on whatever they want.

    This is not only possible, it's inevitable. The economy will require less and less people working. But if you kick more and more people out of the economy, it will just shrink and collapse.

    I don't know what 3rd world shit hole you live in, but more than half of my electricity comes from wind. A significant portion of the rest comes from hydro. Coal is just a small fraction of the whole.

    You mean, like in Kosovo? Wasn't the West's main excuse to steal Kosovo from Serbia that most of the population was of Albanian origin? I fail to see how the West, having set such a precedent, can justify that Crimea is such an integral part of Ukraine, when most of its inhabitants are Russian.

    But this is not about justice, fairness or anything. This is just hardcore geopolitics. Done in the same childish and short-sighted way as always. Putting fanatics in power in a Russia-satellite country to piss off the Russians... when have you last heard of such a move? Let me give you a hint, it usually blows right back in your face.

    What you wrote doesn't make any sense, it's just uninformed speculation and wishful thinking. The Castro brothers are precisely the ones leading the reforms in Cuba.

    As to Russia and China, I fail to see the correlation between Internet access and change of government. The Russian government is in a Medieval conservative rampage, with little opposition. And the Chinese regime enjoys widespread support among the population.

    I don't support the embargo, but every democratic country has the option to choose who it does business with.

    That doesn't give you the right to bully other countries and private companies that want to do business with Cuba.

    So, now the incentives are to blame? You are seeing it upside down. If people that will never be able to rise above Walmart level could make a living wage, those subsidies would not be needed.
