This is after a recent fall in rankings. Canada held first for nearly a decade.

As far as I know, Sony is showing off a working model of the PS3 at next years E3.

A working model isn't expected until 2006 however. Microsoft havent released similar plans involving the xbox2 for next years E3. So overall, based on E3's working models I'd expect it to be closer than you claim.

Got something to take home? Stick your hand out in the road and climb into the big, shiny black thing that's pulled up within a minute. The taxi driver will know his way to your house better than you will, and you don't have to drive all the way there yourself.

Explain to me exactly how a taxi is better for the environment then my own car? Which do you think spends more of it's time idling throughout the day?

And if you can't figure the proper way to drive to your house, you shouldn't be driving at all.

You had a good point, but trying to suggest a taxi as environmentally-friendly is insane.

  5. windows auto-patching.... on Munich Struggling with Linux Transition? · · Score: 2, Insightful

Ballmer, recognizing that virus-infected home PCs pose a risk to business users, said the company is studying how consumers can get software patches automatically when flaws are detected in Microsoft software.

Am I the only one worried about microsoft being able to automatically patch your software?

If say, a patch improved WMP, would it be considered an upgrade?

    From the EULA:

    2. UPGRADES. To use a Product identified as an upgrade, you must first be licensed for the product identified by Microsoft as eligible for the upgrade. After upgrading, you may no longer use the product that formed the basis for your upgrade eligibility.

Would this mean that once something is auto-patched, old versions couldn't be used? I can think of lots of diabolical uses for this, but I'm just paranoid.

Could Microsoft actually do the above?
