The whole thing sounds terribly weird. Where do you find a person who, acutely, loses all four limbs? If it's traumatic, then the chances of them surviving the accident or whatever are pretty slim, much less four limb reattachments. If it's congenital then why do all four at once? Maybe you think you have a good donor (although it seems like that is wrong, FTFA)?
Searching the Internet and avoiding Fox News and the Daily Mail, I found this link which shows a picture of the patient - he's in a wheelchair and he clearly has some deformity in his hands, so this may well have been congenital. The donor (a motorcycle accident victim, remember that fellas, in the industry we do call you all 'organ donors' for a reason) also donated his face to another transplant.
Just hope to hell he had a clear understanding of what he was getting into.
No, Annoymous and WikiLeaks should not publish this. The journal should. This, folks is how science is done:
1. Do research 2. Publish research 3. Critique research
Critique can include request for information concerning materials, methods and results. BUT you don't do that before the results are published. They diesel dudes will get their day in court and in the lab, they just have to sit on their hands for a bit. But coopting the system is a very, very bad precedent.
They aren't that kind of editor. Now, exactly what Slashdot editors are supposed to be editing has always be a mystery to me but long experience has shown it's not content, hypertext links, grammar or spelling.
Well, I was hoping they would just curl up and die, but since Politicians (like Zombies) seem indestructible, they probably would take credit for the oxygen in the atmosphere.
Correlation, especially single variable correlation when the data is on an entirely different continent, doesn't imply causation.
Further the word 'optimal' in the phrase "Medieval Optimum" usually refers to temperatures in Europe. Whatever caused warmer temperatures in Europe might well create droughts in the Yucatan peninsula. Then again, it might not.
Running remote programs on the iPad like iTap mobile into a Windows RDP server is really quite snappy over WiFi. Not native speed but certainly acceptable for everyday use. This system seems to be a bit more sophisticated and thus faster.
I've found that I can run my hospital's POS, ancient EHR system via iTap mobile and get results not much different from using a Windows laptop. Really annoys the IS department because they hate Apple thingies.
(Even worse, our new POS EHR system will use iPads almost exclusively. They're having kittens about that.)
Not everybody flat lines when they are watching TV.
I see people using iPhones / iPads / Androids who appear to be routinely operating with less than a dozen functional neurons, so the bar here isn't very high.
Just because there's buzz, doesn't mean it's a good idea.
I had not even heard of the term 'hypertext fiction' until I looked at the Wikipedia article. I thought he was talking about the New York Times. I can't imagine trying to either write it or read it as a novel. Basically it's a text based computer game. Apparently there isn't a whole lot of interest in same.
Hell, for my MacBook Pro, I have my entire OS X setup and applications on an SSD. - Data is on a 1 TB hard drive stuffed in the DVD slot. I also back up the SSD to the HD so if the SSD goes tits up, I hold down an extra key and boot into the slower hard drive.
An SSD can make even a sluggish 3 - 4 year old laptop feel like it's a spring chicken. Better than Geritol. I just wish I had access to a similar upgrade.
Facebook can't share anything you don't put on there.
Not exactly true. You show up at a function, someone takes a picture and posts it to Facebook. Now you have a presence there. If someone else posts another picture of you on FB and identifies you, then Facebook's recognition system might tag you in the first picture.
Depending on the function and the timing, it might cause some issues.
Blackberry is the phone of choice for organised crime as was revealed very clearly in the London riots. So maybe they've decided to embrace the dark side further.
Well, yes, politicians have been using Blackberries for years. Try and keep up.
I originally read it as "Vulcan Attack" which perked me up for a moment. Those guys wouldn't just go after anybody.
Then my eyes focused better. Damned presbyopia.

Since when is an arm or a leg considered an ORGAN?
Typical guy thinking.
Maybe it's has a different meaning in Turkish, but I, for one, would not like to run around with that name.
Especially with this Zombie thing that's taking over. Just a bad idea all around.
Look closely at the picture. That is a patented Apple device! How can you tell? The corners are rounded.
You keep on with that stupid meme and I'm gonna round your corners, chucko.

Who's equipment?
You're not new here, you ought to know this:
They aren't that kind of editor. Now, exactly what Slashdot editors are supposed to be editing has always be a mystery to me but long experience has shown it's not content, hypertext links, grammar or spelling.
What happens to a light bulb when you repeatedly cycle the power?
It goes on and off.
Next question?
Well, at least in Germany deer must wear headlights and reflective gear if they want to cross a street at night.
In the US, they only have to do that during hunting season so the city folk have a chance of getting an animal.
Anyone standing in the middle of the road looks like roadkill to me.

No! It's saying that the Universe is really Red vs. Blue.
I'm all depressed again....

And then try to tax it.
Maybe you don't but this should freeze your balls:
Tilly holds a patent on the human egg stem cells
(and is starting a company to help alleviate human suffering and cash out on his find).
Hopefully, no public funds were used in this endeavor, otherwise I smell an ethical rat...
If we can find a way to send Al back in time, he can save the Mayans from climate change. PLEASE find a way.
If that works with Al, then we can send the rest of the politicians back in time. Way back in time. Like before oxygen atmosphere time.

Oh man, the fun you could have with that.....
Next time, make lemonade!

Unless you're Greek. Then it's the Germans fault again.
It's Bush's fault! (Sounds like a German name to me.)

Why do you hate America?
