Loud pipes just attract cops, which tends to put a damper on opportunities to have fun behind the wheel.

I doubt they burnt anything off -- burning plastic would be noticed in San Diego and would probably attract attention. Unless they took the stuff into Mexico or somewhere in the desert, of course. But, AFAIK, they were actually recommended by the city as a way of disposing large appliances, so they must have had some kind of license.

What's worse is that the private prison was not an adult prison. It was a "rehab facility" for children, and at least one of the teens railroaded by the judges committed suicide. Now, the main judge did eventually get his (30 year prison sentence, he'll likely be released horizontally, feet-first), but it makes you wonder how many such cases are still undiscovered in the US. Unfortunately, the other judge only got 17 years and has a chance of being alive upon release...

  11. "Cops would not be arresting people for no reason..." -- and Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy exist. Welcome to the real world where people are arrested without ample evidence, suspects change, some people are even kept in jail to pressure them into plea bargaining. Remember, sheriffs and prosecutors in the US are often ELECTED, and need to appear to be "tough on crime" (i.e. getting convictions) to be re-elected.

IDK, flying out of a smaller airport (somewhere like Burbank or Long Beach) on a smaller airliner like a Dash-8, ERJ, or Canadair can actually be fun. Especially with 2+1 seating where you get both the window and aisle seat, and can stick your feet into the aisle when the air waitron isn't passing by.

  18. The 150mph tunnels will not be depressurized. It looks like a subway with single cars that get moved to the surface via an elevator (thus eliminating the escalator/step/platform aspects of traditional subway stations). This will probably be point-to-point instead of fixed routes.

  23. Yet, if this happened today, your mugshot may have ended up on some shady website like the one mentioned -- thus, you could say "no" to the "have you been convicted?" question, yet still have prospective employers finding out out the arrest.
