Why torture yourself with a MacOSXbox, which actually is PearPC running on linux which is running on Xbox hardware. I am sure the performance of it is abysmal.
This is sadder than those MacOSXP (people trying to change their windows into a Mac)

I had a iBook G3 12" and i thought it did not have a fan in it for 3 years that i own it. Then after installing 10.3 while watching a DVD the fan kicked in.
that real would refer to the IBM compatibles from compaq.
What they did not bother to mention the amount of hardware conflicts, and all the other hassles that it created. It took a while to straighten thing out. But look at windows now. A desperate atempt to create a same computing experience across a huge variety of different hardware. Apple Macs not really better but it provides a consistent and predictable behaviour which i believe is only achievable tru maintaining control over both hardware and software
We have to remember not all ipod owners frequent/. and are experts they just want something to work. Not spend time figuring out how it works.
Ipod and apple name and reputation is at stake here and Real is going under anyway, so its like a i'm dragging u down to hell with me situation here. Shame on you real!
Ah the crowd at slashdot is different from the average consumers. While we applaud innovation and hacks here the average consumers does not.
What real did here is not just open up access to the ipod they are creating an inconsistent behavior for usage of the ipod. Imagine my grandma buying an ipod for use with the songs she bought from real, It could be confusing she calls apple tech support and she is left in tech support limbo . This would only hurt the ipod's reputation as a elegant easy to use audio player.
