  1. sigh on One Man's Check From The RIAA · · Score: 3, Interesting

As an ex-member of BMG Music Club and Columbia House, I can tell you that those $13 mean squat when compared to the amount of money these thieves, extortionist, ect have taken from people that purchase CD's like myself. I only purchase from independent and none riaa affiliates now. And that nice little check is going straight to the eff along with my other support. There is a hell of a lot better music out there that doesnt make KC's top 40, real artist, none of this over played hollywood bull shit.

You are so right. Thanks for the mems, as far as where my music money goes, to support independent, and none-riaa affiliates.

You know, ISP's dont have to log any information about you. There is no law that forces them to log anything that you do. I dont know why they do it, seems to me it would be even funnier and more convenient for them, to just trash all the logs, that would end all these stupid law suits. I am sure that will happen soon however, we live in a corporate world, when the first large isp begins to do this, they will get so many customers they wont know what to do with them.

Yeah I agree, plus it be a great way to stick it to the riaa wouldnt it? I mean you can use it to buy a cd and give that money right back to them, or you can donate it to a noble cause like the EFF. You never know, it may be you or your kids, or someone close to you that may need the eff's help one of these days.

Not that I condone p2p downloading, I mean hell I'd rather spend $15 on a non-RIAA affiliated artist than help these scum bags in anyway, and certainly not through legal relief. However, Comcast has over 5 million members, I am sure 203 of them are not the only ones uploading and downloading. You also have to ask yourselves something, I guess, they have only gone after east coast based ISP's none of the West Coast or Mid West giants (SBC, Charter, ect.) have been served, so makes me wonder if this little suit war will have any effects at all. I mean hell, they cant be everywhere all the time, first, and second, what happens when you get a situation where half the people you sue start fighting back, more legal costs acrue. Dont know how effective these suing tactics will be, I am sure that for the short run they may work, but for the long run, well I dont see it happenning. Think about all the crap that p2p networks are coming out with to protect your anonimity. Very difficult for the RIAA to keep up, and very expensive as well, sooner or later when they have extortioned enough people I am sure they will have to concede. But people like you and I that dont download on p2p can still help the victims these jagoffs are pursuing, boycott anything thats RIAA affiliated.

  7. Its good to see people are fighting back on RIAA Countersued Under Racketeering Laws · · Score: 1

Hell, if the eff or a similar organization starts some sort of public donations fund to help with this lady's legal costs, I d be more than happy to donate money. Eventually more and more people will fight back, there are more of them, than the RIAA can handle, and given the fact that the RIAA lawyers are settlement lawyers (coug * cough, MBA's in disguise), it may not play out so pretty for them if the federal judge grants this woman a trial by jury.

  8. So lemme get this straight on FBI Anti-Piracy Seal · · Score: 1

If you are convicted of battery, assault, rape, rape against a minor, armed robbery, you may be let out with a slap on the wrist (ie Carlie Bruccia's murder didnt have to happen), but if you even think of copying or downloading a CD or DVD federal law provides fines up to $250, 000 or a 5 year term sentence? WTF, where did we go wrong? By the way, the logo sucks too, I think I can come up with a better logo than they did, using Windows XP Paint than they did. And well since they are in a way allowing recording companies to use their label freely, I guess it will make my music purchases easier since I dont buy anything related to the RIAA.

  9. maybe these law suits have something to do with on Price-Fixing Settlement Checks in the Mail · · Score: 1

Maybe the fact that they lost $67 million due to extorting their customers, has to do with the recent law suits. Hell, I am sure they are eager to make that money back and then some, let's face it the crappy music they are offering isnt selling. I ll buy a Britney Spear's Calander before I purchase any of her songs.
