Well, hang on here. I've run some flavor of Mac OS since 1979 (truth be told a bit off and on, but lots more on than off) and I have never suffered a virus either. I'm not caviler about it though...I run Little Snitch, an AV, have inbound firewalls rules set, keep up on my patches and get my pR0n through a sandbox VM. I see no need to tempt fate.
I also do the same on my Nix and Win boxes as well, with the same results (I did get a virus back in 1995 on a Windows box, which is when I started to tighten up the defenses a bit.)
Also, I wonder how Apple, the paragon of UI design, has never been able to implement a good window manager? It makes my eyes bleed every time I try to place Firefox and a terminal window side-by-side on a friends machine.
Agreed, BetterSnapTool solves this issue, though it should be integrated into the OS from the get-go...
Why is any IT employee in their right minds sending our personal communications from their work computer? Come on - that's like common sense 101 stuff there, or at least, take some precautions...VPN, GPG, smartphone...
Should have put this in my first post - Father Ted and the IT Crowd - also Graham Lineham productions along with Black Books. He has a habit of making great shows that end well before their time (which maybe is part of the reason why they are great shows!)

You know what I always tell people that my real job is? Reading. It ain't TS, it ain't SysAdmin. It's reading and researching on how to do something - that's it. Understanding and interpreting the instructions to those who, for whatever reason, lack the ability or the desire to do it themselves. I'll direct those who haven't seen this to this handy chart:
Yay - computers de-mystified. Of course there is the theory behind how things work, troubleshooting methods, anticipated expected behavior, etc, but to a large degree this chart tells the real story many times over.
If I have to give a wack at rewiring portions of an engine's electrical system, or changing out a compressor in a fridge (both RL examples for me), do I have any inside knowledge on what to do? Nope. I google up some shit, use some logic and test it out, with the knowledge that I really DON'T know what I'm doing. If I find I am digging myself a hole, I (usually) have the humility to call it quits before I lose the patient for good. Then, when I call in an expert for help, I have a bit of background on the issue, which hopefully will give the repairman incentive to just fix what is wrong instead of taking me to the cleaners over it.
This doesn't work all the time obviously, but its true enough - at least, I have found so. Non-nerdy people, hear my voice! Wanna not get fleeced, constantly? Do a bit of research and read before you plunge into an unknown pool. The frustration (and cash) you save may be your own...
So technically, I guess that makes them terminally ignorant:)
I am continually amazed at how I can continue to charge people because they don't want to read. Sometimes I feel I am less of a paid technician and more of a paid librarian.
