who says the problem scales linear?
maybe it's not O(n) but O(n*logn) or something.
I don't know enough about the subject anyway, but still...
Just think of Fibonacci numbers, maybe to calculate one more photon you need a factor 10 speed up or something.
Wohow, Bro. This is what I find wrong. As a white man that can jump, living in Belgium (Belgium is not the capital of Paris, it's actually a country in Europe -you mean Europe is not a country?-), I can tell you that I feel like Belgium is part of the "Western" world, and in Belgium we know damn well what the geography of Africa is; hell, we colonized it all. So, before critizing the "generalisation of Africa", maybe you shouldn't generalize the "western press".
As an African living in Canada
Euhm, so first you start bragging about the diversity of Africa, from Morocco To (Belgian Congo aka Zaire aka Congo near Rwanda where they peacefully exterminate eachother) to South-Africa, and then you're using the term Africa yourself, and compare it to a country (Canada). Shouldn't it be: as an African living in North America?. Ok, I admit, this was just nose picking, I'm not gonna analyze every word:).
Anyway, you're right! It's the first thing I noticed: AFrica, Nigeria hehehe, talking about redundancy! But we know our geography here, and we get a lot of press about the whole of Africa, may it be Egypt, Rwanda, Uganda, Zimbabwe and all the other countries.
hehe, that reminds me of a summer job at DHL (FedEx like courier company).
We had to load containers that had to go on planes. I was carring a Bang&Olufson box, put it in the container, and slide it to the back. Suddenly another employee came and said "hey, be carefull, those B&O electronics are really expensive". 5 minutes after, he was throwing small seagate boxes against the back of the container:). I guess he never heared of hard-disks:)
> the commons is polluted because the polluter doesn't pay the cost of the collective damage he does
That's exactly the the problem of Liberalism in the economy. The "invisble hand" that makes the bad companies go away and regulate the economy doesn't fix stuff like pollution, because the companies themselve don't care since it would only push down profit.
oh, ok. that's cool. I had a Pentium 2 400, and plp said I wouldn't be able to put a HD bigger then 32GB, unless I had a BIOS upgrade. I didn't know Windows could overrule that.
Nice!
Shouldn't he install a 200 pounds UPS to shut down his server properly when his battery dies:) ?
At least his car would be a low-rider for free with all that weight in the trunk.
Apparently the test was on long lines. But does this adapt well to the internet?
All protocols are good for some cases but not for others. I don't remember which protocol it was, but there has been a discussion on the length of the packets, and US wanted bigger packets since they have long lines, while Europe wanted smaller packets because they had smaller lines, more hops etc...
Instead of focusing on the speed, I'd like to see some numbers in different network configuration:).

UPS can come repare my computer, but Toshiba better ship my packages!
they only had 40%, it was a coalition, man! the coalition of the (w|k)illing.
is that even a valid social security number? no modulo somewhere?
How would it make you better off in Australia?
How are you going to impress US chicks if they don't know how big a 25 cm dick is?

That must be some hot fucking Pentium 166 !!! Not only does it not skip, but it has 40 GB. putting 40 GB on a Pentium 166, is that even possible???

I think they should search for the arch in the mountain like they looked for weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, just nuke the place!

Take cover! The big rip has already started, it's called SCO! oh, wait...sorry, that's "the big rip off".
