    simon is open source.
    julius is open source.
    htk is *NOT* open source.

The latter is a micro$oft by-product, as clearly shown by the license that you have to first agree with and then send your email to them in order to download the tarballs...

myself never done this since 1995.

    that's even more to come!

just think that one could strap 4 controllers (maximum number allowed) on itself (1 each arm + 1 each leg) and move a character in the game, really being into the game!!!

or, in a simpler fashion have a controller in each hand and perform any sort of action possible!

    the sky is the limit...

  3. The first truly revolutionary controller on Plotting the Revolution's Arc · · Score: 1

Have all of you thought that this is the very first controller that a left handed could pick up straight away and use both in vertical and horizontal position?

And have you also thought that the just-aim-and-click-the-big-A-button approach can be grasped even by granny (sort of apple mouse of controllers)?

Just one note to Nintendo: DON'T even try sell this to Europe 6 months/1 year AFTER having made japanese and u.s. happy gamers as it will feel like watching a wonderful movie after someone repeated you the whole story for that amount of time, basically SPOILED and not so wonderful!

disclaimer: I'm right handed and not a nintendo zealot.

Really amazing, and if it's not enough, you'll also have the opportunity to see a "granny" (well, not then) PDP-8 !!!

Unfortunately I've had to install Windows2000 [TM] just to discover that despite of its "unprecedent stability and reliability" it screws up as any other windoze [not TM ;)] does as soon as a bug in a complex application (Maya) freeze the whole thing. Well, in that occasion I've spent a little time trying to read the EULA I've always heard of. Micro$oft accept to pay a MAXimum of 5 US$ (yes, five bucks), indipendently of the damage a crash or something like that could damage you. Is this acceptable in today business world? Should I trust a company that "washes its hands" (I'm a SPQR) when bad times come? Should companies that sell physical products like cars or planes follow the same rule (if you want to fly or drive, you've to accept this agreement in which you state that if something goes wrong your family cannot claim more than $2 (perhaps)). So the Apple Boys have ported IE to their candy-like new BSD system?

    That's OK! I don't care, but ...

... THEY ALSO PORTED QUICKTIME!!! (have you seen snapshots?) surely with the infamous *Sorenson* decoding algorithm.

I'm still waiting to see "Star Wars - Episode I" on my linux box.

    Why not start with Assembler?
This programming language gives them all the necessary tools to really play with all the internals of a computer system, ranging from 'Hello World!' to a cool game that shocks their friends with unpaired capabilities (making them future top kernel hakers!).
    ** It's this a joke or not? **
Probably you should try with Python whose general features can make them play from 'Hello World!' to a good game too.

Reading about all recent *silly* patents stuff I thought a simple rule that could be used:
the patent request should be *invalidated* if someone else can prove (documenting the matter)that the process isn't a real innovation, having discovered/experimented/used it *before*.

    Isn't it a moral issue?
    Think about Marconi VS Bell.
Think about Micro$oft too, the "freedom to innovate"

    HEY YOU!
I've obtained a patent on "sendind and receiving messages at long distances by the use of electonic devices".
I called it "email", a short for "electonic mail" ... so now all using such a system have to pay a fee to me!
but it's really amazing how someone did the same thing in reality!
