Indeed this is the biggest problem in the industry.
The only people who will apply for a gameprogramming job is the once who hasnt a clue about the gameindustry. Having a single pal who has worked as a gameprogrammer will make you never considering applying for a gameprogramming job.
The problem is the way the contracts with publishers usually are arranged, a fixed deadline - lousy paid. The only project managers that will accept this is incompetent ones. Meaning the project team will have to work their asses off, or simply go bankrupt.
Probably this is why all gamecompanies in Sweden is struggling with very bad economics and most of them more or less shutting down.
To sum stuff up; only volunteers for gameprogramming is the hardcore graphicsprogrammers who loves it. There is a big community behind this (just check flipcode.com) so the games wont stop coming, but however i think the gameindustry is generally underrated and we really should get a more serious market in the near future to get some quality games.
Sorry, but how are you supposed to be able to steal/sell something without acquire a copyright? The copyright is for being able to buy/re-ship stuff, if it wasnt for the copyright we would all own everything we did for an eternity and not being able to share anything at all.
"They can't say it unless they prove it. You can't destroy anyones reputation just because. First you gotta prove it..."
Iam startled about how anyone at slashdot can be so naive. (good) Reputation is something you can destroy in notime, you just let the internet/media go out and cruicify whoever you want and if you where wrong you just say you had some kindof source of whatever you made up, you dont really have to prove anything, since their reputation is already lost, this is how modern politic works, in buisness activity and in goverments.
The sad part is that you no longer can take posts like this as jokes, after having seen people spending months on porting Linux to different gaming consoles, so i will respond as a complete moron, that is.. Seriously;-)

Mac users are generally the ones who believes in being produce, and personally I've thought of trying to use a TV as a monitor as something producive as you spend 90% of the time re-reading the text and then after some hours getting a massive headache...

"You might as well ask what percentage of information transported over the telephone is useful, easy to read and informative? Who cares?"
What kindof telephones do you use?
