No one's mentioned it so here it goes, Cygwin. It works so well that I wouldn't consider a different os because it would lack cygwin. I do own a mac, I've tried to work under ubuntu, but always come back to Windows + Cygwin as my environment of choice and the best compromise for real life work.
Hello,
does anyone know how to select text in a terminal using the keyboard only ? I can do it in cmd.exe using alt-space - e - k then the arrows. But I've looked everywhere on how to do it in gnome terminal or cygwin without success.
I did google it several times, nobody seems to have the same problem.
Thanks
They've noticed, I wonder how, that I work from home. Since I might listen to some music while I work, I owe them 100 €. I haven't paid yet, not really planning to until I get a more formal order.
The rumor here is that they don't actually redistribute any of the funds collected to artists or labels, because there are some many of them state employees in their offices, writing injunctions and stuff.
I can see why, their offices are in the best rated area of Brussels. Just the rent must account to more money than what they're able to collect.
You mean of course designing a cool hat to be worn while using anti-gravity belt that could be invented when we understand and are able to control gravity.
I would really really REALLY like to know how they are going to deploy the fracking tether, won't we need a spaceship like the B.S. Galactica for that?
Please could anyone shed some light on this, ideas? So far no-one has even mentioned this.
I have an idea, assuming we're able to deploy a very thin cable attached to a satellite in geosync with a few thrusters capable of accelerating to maintain tension in the cable.
Then send a second spacecraft along with a few rolls of that same cable, attach both spacecraft and send down-climbing robots back to earth with the extra cables. Once they reach the floors attach the new cables somewhere near the first cable.
Repeat
Now you have a heavy mass orbiting the earth attached to a strong cable. I'm not sure but I think that if we want to haul anything up, the orbiting mass has go to be at least equal to the mass on the ground.
I do kite surfing quite regularly here in belgium. when the wind is really light, I keep the same kite, but stand on a 9 feet longboard, and this beats anything with a sail upwind. even a sailboat designed for going upwind. maybe not in term of angle, but in term of distance upwind, it's because the speed is so much greater with the kite.
the real problem is going downwind, because the wind created by the speed is greater than the real wind, and the kite stops flying.
What I can't believe about this project is that they managed to automate it.
wow this is all so hard to understand.
so when do you have to release your code,
all projects commercial or not have to be based on something open source (free) at some points.
in fact what's the difference between public domain and GPL ??
thanks for enlighting me on the matter.
I'm so with you ! the bad thing is that voting no on the euro constitution actually meant voting yes to commission. but I guess it was just too long too read most people didn't understand it, even politicians. on tv you could right wing and left wings no agreing within their own party !!
The constitution, as I understood it, meant voting no on the commission, and yes on the parliament; I would have voted yes, but it was windy that day I had better things to do.
they're not enforced ! that's why the french just voted no on europe. the european commission people is just a bunch of crazy state worker who think the whole world comes down to brussels (I would know, I used to work, got fired). it's like, every european country, when they have state employees that do too much work in their country, then they get sent to brussels, just to see who can pull out the most crasy laws about just anything. no country in europe place the european laws above their own, so don't worry;)
It's everywhere on earth. Every one can feel it, some can use it : pretty much every cool sports out there make great use of gravity. for example windsurfing, gravity makes you able to lean against the wind, thus creating speed. kitsurfing works the same way.
Surfing and skiing make the same use of gravity, again to create speed. It's kinda like the jedi that use the force to choke on people or destroy building. Except that this one force is real, and it just creates speed. I'm sure kung fu fighters also use gravity or the opponent's force to do their thing.
I never installed an anti virus, or adaware, nor firewall nor anything like that on my computer at home.
And it's directly connected to the internet. I don't really have any problems with virus, I can still do my work (whatever work it is that im' doing). There's just one thing that bugs me is that it says that some windows files have been replaced, please instert the cd blablabla. So I guess it's been infected with virus huh ?
Well maybe it has, but I really think it's ok, It doesn't bother all that much. Are virus writers so gentle they care to write their stuff in a way that we can both work on that box.
I think that what's happening in fact is that those so called viruses serve a higher purpose, like computing some insurance company's data, or seek aliens like seti@home. And that's why they don't come up with popup or randomely erase your data, they want to keep it quiet, so they can keep doing their job.
I'm from Brussels, Belgium. Your president is here today at Nato and the EU discussing about how we can improve relationship between our two countries). man you should see the messed it's caused here, i can't even park my car in front of my house because it might cause a threat to the president.
Last night there was this huge demonstration in front of the american embassy. It was really impressive to see how people from over here are still mad at Bush for the war in Iraq and american foreign policy in general. However I don't agree with the demonstrator because i don't think our policy is very much different from yours.
Anyway my point is : you slashdotters are really good at complaining about your government, but hey, you elected them. Did you guys at least go to the polls ? And what did you vote ? I bet 51 % voted Bush.
the page holder ! They had it in the days of explorer 4.0 for mac, and I've never seen it anywhere since then.
dude it was awesome for browsing thru porn sites, and that's exactly what I miss when using firefox compared to IE, it's not as good when it come to browsing, and jacking off.
what about the speed of this thing ? does anyone knows how fast it goes ?? I mean, space is a big thing, and there could be many more out there. maybe one will hit us soon. we ought to be prepared. first we need telescopes !
install linux instead ?? for the half savvy computer user who don't want to pay for windows ?
Is there any distros that come preinstalled with spell checkers, printer drivers... so I could sell to small business then profit !!
nope
it sucks because 250 $ for windows is worth more than the new hardware.
when you buy a new pc with windows, it cost you like 50$ so I guess it's a better deal.

Am the only one running apache without a firewall ?

that sounds like an awful lot to me for a company that pretty much does nothing. do they even make money ??

George W Bush, for rejecting the kyoto protocol. And thank you, american friends, for voting for him, again !
