My guess, most unmapped terrain is not secret. WHy? Because 1% of the surface of the earth is absolutely huge. THe surface area of earth is 510.072.000 km. 1% would be 5.100.720 km, which is 2258x2258 km. Such a large area can't be secret in its entirety.
Thank goodness one can still get a Mac Mini plus an external LCD... but if the Mac Mini goes, so does Apple's superiority in graphics, and this is a big deal Or you can connect an LCD monitor to your Mac laptop... How is that different than using a mac mini? Plus it i a laptop.

I support the idea 100%. In fact I have done the exact same thing, NO LAPTOP. Internet access in these places are really easy to find, it is like Coca-Cola and cigarettes. Plus it is super cheap (.25cents/hr. to 2$/hr.). I traveled for 10 months across central and south america taking picture. These internet café will often offer you DVD or CDRW burner (again cheap). Google web apps are the perfect tools for a laptopless trip.
If you have time, take a look at my pictures:

'everyone else is doing it' Shall we call this a monopoly then? Isn't that illegal? Every single Canadian company are charging this "CRTC tax". I think they successfully brainwashed their salesmen (they must be getting a good discount on their service...)
To do the following task?
Resize image in batch, rotate them...(thousand of them). Is a processor company better than the other for these specific task?

This would be less complicated than running a bootable CD. They could start get more familiar with linux without loosing Windows in the background. Haven't try the thing yet altought...
The downside, it has to be run on a writable media (USB Key,ipod...) wich will get your present more expensive:(
"or is it part of a top secret organization?"

What if the 1% is not continuous space?
