  5. Bill Gates ate my email on Hotmail Loses Customer Files · · Score: 0

Lots of repetative posts here. Lots of logic like "If WalMart has lower prices every day why aren't things free?". Hotmail is free like broadcast TV is free. Somebody has to pay for it and I don't think M$ is willing to give anything away. If you want to get revenge/satisfaction then boycott the advertisers. I'll also bet that all those "Holier than thou" wanks here don't do any back ups themselves and have just been lucky. Observation on the modding here. You get extra points for zingers at M$. So I should get a 5 for saying Bill Gates ate my email.

I would separate the C from the ++. Most, if not a large majority of C++ is crap and deadly. There is a skill and art factor. It is easier to write bad and dangerous C++ code than bad java code. I would rather have code written in C by some solid veteran coders. I just wrote a C application that could be compiled and run on 4 flavors of Unix, Linux, MVS and 2 versions of windows and that had to be done was compile on each platform. Teh company tried the same thing in C++ and ran into so many compiler problems they gave up.

EIOffice 2004 offers features which should get a few users' attention, but does it have enough to have people switching from MS Office? If it has everything that MSOffice has what added benefit is there to switch? You mean corporate buy-in? How many millions are they going to give in kick-backs for businesses to switch? How many arms are they going to twist? Can they play as dirty as Microsoft? The best products don't succeed just because they are the best. It is all in the "marketing".

I disagree with your characterization. Many colleges and universities offer curricula that fit the needs/wants of the faculty and not the needs of the student. When I went back to school for a CompSci degree I had to take many classes containing math I have not used in 20 years. However, the same could be said for any major. My first degrees were in Geology and I learned a lot of things I never used. Disclaimer: I have served on the board at several ITT campuses. The board meets to see from an outside perspective what classes should be within the curricula. Does Podunk State do the same?
