Thats asking too much.Web pages are served under a Client-Server architechture and torrents work with a p2p arch.Torrents do not work well behind firewalls.How can u expect someone behind a firewall allowing only port 80 to serve u a page from his cache?.The only way could be mirroring or doing some caching to speed up things.
have you ever tried to search for ur favorite movie or distribution torrent on suprnova or torrentz.com?
It always takes a long time to do and i dont know how easy it would be to search the RSS feeds for ur stuff using the remote and the tv.The click to download can happen later.
i tried it... gaim connects to the sametime server but nothing else works.. ( add buddy,instant message etc )... shows me online.. but no point since it crashes when someone messages me..

If using a rich interface is the idea... why not use macromedia flash... well for communication like you were talking about... sockets... flash remoting could do the trick... the security etc is handled in the remoting API,it allows connection only to the server from which the flash movie was hosted and also it uses the browsers connection settings in case there is a proxy in-between... of course the remoting communication is with xml over http..

Search for MyUID project returns no useful results in google for www.myuid.com.
