Politicians in the USA don't like Saddam Hussein - so killing a lot of innocent people to catch him and his buddies doesn't seem to matter a whole lot...
Politicians in the USA don't like Yasser Arafat - so the USA refuses to condemn actions by the Israeli army that kill innocent children...
Some mindless smear of a human being doesn't like script kiddies or virus authors - so why not kill them as well???

I agree - I do the same - Firefox and Thunderbird
PLUS - I install Trend PC-Cillin - this has a built-in firewall function - I configure it to only allow outbound connections to be established for http, https, POP3 and SMTP - this pretty much stops any inbound probing for vulnerabilities too, but still lets the folks surf and e-mail.
