    What I got out of it was that the core developers, not some other group, do the testing. Rather than hand the task of quality control/testing to some other group just prior to release, all developers are held to a high level of participation in this regard. Theo and other developers use nightly builds in their day-to-day work and the entire system compiles most every night.

    For now my main reason for switching accounts to PayPal is the relative (to PayPal) lack of phishing. This will change, I'm sure.

    I'll also note that their tech support was extremely responsive and helpful recently as I was working through the format of XML interaction with their service, and they also host helpful discussion forums.

    I'm not sure what to blame, but I just compared IE and FireFox side by side on a PC isolated to my local network. FireFox loaded many pages many times faster. Then I uninstalled all the virus protection (Norton) software on this newly aquired PC (as it will always be isolated to my local network for in-house testing) and IE performance improved dramatically.

    as an indymedia site system admin (not in nyc), I can say that it is universal policy not to log IP numbers, percisely for these sorts of reasons. They would have to go upstream of the web server if the provider keeps info.
