When you can measure materials in the air and on the ground it becomes obvious that _something_ is going on. I would have agreed with you if you had stated something along the lines of "there is too much hysteria over the issue" (which would be a valid opinion and does not deny facst) or even "we really are not sure the full intent." Neither of those things deny what's going on and would have appeared more rational than an absolute denial.
The next fabrication you have, is that problems are non-existent. Again, when you can make measurements of things happening, then something does exist. Without data, you don't know the extent of the problem any better than I. I have to speculate since there are no publicly available documents on the program, but we do have enough facts to show that it impacts plants at a minimum. To deny facts in order to support an opinion fits very well into the definition of "delusion". I'm sure you don't need me to Google that for you.
If you are going to be a delusional idiot or shill, at least _try_ to be a good one. There is way to much evidence regarding Geo-Engineering programs for you to be correct. While the US Government may not produce much in documentation, other countries involved sure as hell do.
For a while, we also made progress by public awareness and corporate culture change. Ads were all over the place for "CFC Free" products as well as telling people why they should use them. After massive deregulation, failure to apply and punish monopoly laws, media monopolization, and new "News is Entertainment" laws companies no longer care about public opinion because they can form it cheaply and do so without fear of financial losses from false advertising law suits. It's been going down hill since Reagan and will get much worse before it gets better.
Seriously, can we all drop the xenophobia and realize that America is losing jobs because it's becoming less competitive, and not because of a few immigrants?
Over simplified and not quite correct except for the part about immigrants. Keynesian economics has been proven to be wrong in several critical areas, yet every policy we have is based on those principles. Milton Friedman has a whole lot to say about it, I'd recommend you give a listen or read some of his work.
Bad economic does not cover everything. The US Government mandated and assisted companies in off shoring jobs and factories. Any idiot looking at that scenario should have realized the outcome. No job = No income = No spending = reduced economic pool=> reduced pay = reduced spending = further reduced economic pool, and so on and so on.
If you want to know that Global Warming is real, simply look at the main goal of every Geo-Engineering project running. "control weather and cool planet". Never mind the part where the metals they are using cause more harm than good and don't work like they think they do.. those people are idiots and truly believe that they are always right. Point is, if there is no Global Warming why are they dumping aluminum and barium particles in the air?
To continue the global warming debate is useless! I have pointed this out before. Global Warming is absolutely the wrong argument. The argument should be about having unsustainable economies based on pollution! Before you say "but but oil" remember that Oil is finite! Instead of caring about how much we have for plastics and other purposes in the future, we are pumping and dumping everything we can so that a very select few people make bazillions! And before you claim there is lots of oil, go check facts. Tar sands and deep ocean drilling are the only prospects on the horizon. These are both extremely expensive methods of extraction and extremely dangerous methods of extraction.
I probably would not care so much what these massive corporations did, if they actually worked for the greater good they claim to work for. They don't, and more and more it has become obvious that the only thing they look out for is their own wallets and safety. Yes, they don't give 2 rat turds about your safety or wallet.
Most businesses that use Cloud offerings have at least a few rules that must be followed. These rules not only cover what you can and can't put on someone's Cloud server, but also rules like "You must use two different cloud vendors for any product. I.E. AWS and IBM. or Microsoft and CSC".
A business that put's all it's efforts into a single cloud is asking for trouble. We have seen massive outages that cost people money. This shows that it's not just about a business changing something, or the government shutting something down.
For TFA those statements become irrelevant because it would break the rules I just mentioned. This is more showing that there are "some" practical uses for using 3rd party cloud services that are not insecure.

You beat me to the punch. I use iTunes and have purchased some albums from there. Normally, I prefer to purchase CDs so that I can port them to anything including Linux. If I rip them in iTunes, they go into the same pool as my purchased media and are in the Cloud.
Home sharing and iCloud means that I can access _my_ music from any device I have with iCloud access. It's 5 devices, which is more than I have or want. While I would like very much for them to put out a Linux client, I'm not really hindered except that for copying media I have to do so twice (1 for Linux 1 for iTunes).
Could it be better? Sure! Is it the end of the world? Not really, and in many cases it makes access my music a hell of a lot easier by having it in their cloud.
I would probably feel a whole lot differently if I purchased something and they took away access after a year or something, but that's not what they do. I would also feel differently if they didn't allow me to sync up the CD's I copy into iTunes, but they don't.
Microsoft, EA, and Ubisoft using Keys is not an example and is an anecdote? The rest of your comments demonstrate that you either can't read, or can't comprehend what you read. Wholly shit you are handicapped. Have fun in your fantasy land, I'll read no more of your delusional rantings.
You do realize that the term "Conspiracy" does not automatically mean you are correct and the other person is not correct don't you? We know the potential is there. The US Government has shown, and been shown, numerous proofs of concept on the subject.
China has already been found to be subsidizing exported items, so your previous opinion is also not in line with facts.
To deny facts in order to support your opinion is termed being "delusional".
I'm absolutely sure we have had similar discussions before, where your delusional beliefs deny facts. Don't bother to reply with more bullshit fantasy arguments. Seek professional help.
While commercial advertising time slots are generally prepaid, the terms are usually negotiable based on the number of viewers. Future costs for slots always increase based on historical viewers. Additionally, extra slots are generally available during events and sold to the highest bidder. There are obviously many more of these extra slots when there is a delay of some type. This does not include what we can call extravagant revenue where the value of a network stock as their market share increases, or banner adds which can run during "live" coverage while waiting for something to happen. In the 35 minute outage of the Superbowl, about 10 minutes of that was commercials which were all the "extras" queued up for "if" they have time to air them.
Nope, not the news. People would have tuned in to the Olympics and watched looking for the "terrorism". We saw the same exact scenario when the lights went out at the Superbowl. As soon as the news went out that power was out, everyone tuned in and waited for something bad to happen.
"News" would have also seen an increase in viewing.
Nope, encryption does not really work when it's a sysadmin involved. If they need to see data for their jobs, they have to be able to decrypt the data. Think along the lines of people having to handle calls and trouble shoot problems with other people getting that data.
I worked in that sector for just shy of a decade. The only principle that works is to keep people's hands off of data. It used to be that way, and not that long ago. If you were not signed on to a project, you had no access to data on the project. Even if you were on the project, if the data did not relate to your work you had no access to that data. Computers were not networked unless they absolutely needed to be, so data was hand carted from system to system when it was needed. While not the most efficient way to work, it was much more secure.
Since I left that sector there have been both massive expansions and massive cuts in budgets to established institutions with good practices. Long term players have been forced to furlough employees so everyone is at 4/5ths pay. Those are the people that worked with, and understood very well, good security practices. Wannabe 007s with a bit of script kiddie skillz have been hired like crazy, most of which is contracted so not accountable like direct hires.
It is the Government's own fault that things have gone to shit. Just like I blame CEOs for cutting costs by dumping seasoned productive people in favor of temps, at the expense of their customers.
A massive program like this won't simply get better for a whole lot of reasons. It's way too big, it's poorly managed, and a large portion of the people working in the industry are not there for the right reasons. A person being hired because they want to fuck people over, which is the profile they frequently seek, means that the person really does not care who they fuck over. Luckily for the Government most of the people that fit that profile are generally not as intelligent as they think they are. (Please don't mistake those comments for the majority of people working in the industry who are good Americans and not there to fuck people over, but to do a job. Because they won't fuck people over, well.. I already mentioned how they get furloughed and fucked over or downsized out of work.)
Actually, the person is correct that they failed Godwin's law, which really has no clear definition. I often do commit the same offense, because people refuse to understand history. Much of what we see being done today is exactly like Hitler did, Stalin and Lenin did, Mao did, etc...
Too many people live in a delusion where they don't believe evil people can become politicians in the USA, or the UK. Media and Governments have spent lots of money, and had lots of help from the entertainment industry, convincing people that it can't happen "here".
"Those that refuse to learn history are doomed to repeat it." is something that people just don't want to admit is true.
Well, you just failed miserably at reading the Wiki page for fallacy and deciding that know everything about fallacy? If I provide working examples of something, it can not be an argument from ignorance you twat! Your _opinion_ is that you don't like it, but to deny it works when there is proof positive that it does, it is _you_ arguing a false statement, not someone else committing fallacy.
My claim that CD Keys are worth something is very valid. How many Windows users running valid copies of Windows does Microsoft have which prove my assertion that the technology works? Go ask Microsoft. Before you claim foul, or what ever you are going to invent as a fallacy, game makers like EA and Ubisoft have used the same key to similar effects.
As stated, the concept of the key is not purely about jailing software. For jailing you need to spend a lot of money on products like FlexLM or i4LS. Instead of making false fallacy claims, why not go to the people who developed and use the technology? Microsoft realizes that they can't make that technology pirate proof, but they can nag and track you if you use pirated versions and connect to the internet.
Minimally invasive is not a fallacy oh "low of IQ"! It's a description from the designers on what they wanted to do with the technology.
I don't care if you dislike the comparative analogy, it works very well. Substitute any other crime and deterrent into with the statement "Piracy defeats CD keys so they are useless" and you get the same result. Look, I realize that basic logic may be very difficult for you, so let me give a few examples.
Murders didn't get caught by forensics, so forensics is useless.
Car thieves can circumvent locks on car doors and ignitions, so locks are useless.
Do you see how that works? It's very basic logic but you will surely need lots of practice.
Actually if the power went out it would have increased revenue due to increased ratings. Everyone would have been tuned in to see "The 30 second horror of darkness in London", because that's what we have been trained to do.
Nope, it was not useless. It was a minimally invasive way of giving protection software. I never ever shared a key with anyone, and own hundreds of titles with a key that I purchased over the last couple decades. In my case, the protection works as intended. Since keys are still being used with the same success today, I think it's safe to assume that my situation and respect of the "key" is not unique. On the contrary, I believe my respect for the law and well being of people working in the industry is the majority perspective.
An extension of your logic would be to claim "Since the law prevented a person from being prosecuted for murder, all prosecution for murder is useless." That is not a logical or rational thought process. The same rules of society should apply, as should the same rules of logic and rational thinking. We don't lock everyone in prison to prevent murder, we teach the law and prosecute what we can. The same approach works very well with any criminal act. DRM that works is not so much a jail, but a way of educating and offering reminders of the rules. When a person shares the key and is caught, they should be prosecuted.
Maybe you should read up on the subsidies China has been giving solar panel makers to ensure global monopolization. Then read up on the papers presented to Congress which lead them to pass a recent ruling that we should not be using devices made in China for Government/Defense work.
The risk is real, whether you wish to recognize it or not. I think the easy, and therefor more likely, dubious changes would not open hardware back doors but shut down devices. But that does not mean that back doors are impossible. Back doors are much more complex and would require larger changes that would be easier to detect.
Did you ever stop to think that the reason they are so cheap is because they receive lots of funding from government agencies to build in back doors in China? Subsidies make things very very cheap, and an uneducated work force in China would not know that the schematics have been modified.
Spying on military programs? Okay, I can see why Governments do this. Spying on science and technology? Okay, I can see this one as well. Spying on citizens emails? Nope, not at all. The Government should not know about your mom and aunt having a conversation about what kind of underwear is best in the summer, it's not of their fucking business!
They should not care who your friends are or where you visit most often, unless you are a suspected criminal and they have a warrant. When Governments have this data, well, why not go read about the Stasi and see how they used this program to control citizens. The USSR had similar programs, and probably still do. China has this program. N. Korea has this program, etc.. etc.. etc.. It was because of those reasons that we have the 4th amendment in the Constitution. It was because the Government may trample that amendment that we have the 2nd. Learn some history.
Ahh, my favorite story from Plato's Republic coming to life.. again.. yes it happens all the time. People really should heed my advice and study the book, it's very remarkable how much we can learn from history and politics nearly 2,600 years ago.
Most people living in the cave will refuse to speak with the escaped prisoner, who tells them they are being held in cave against their will and that there is a whole world they are being kept from. They will fear losing their TV (shadow puppet show playing against the wall) eveyr evening, and dismiss the person trying to free them. Sometimes to the point of being violent and calling the guards to capture the person trying to free them.
Thankfully, there can be a happy ending. As more and more people wake up and see the real world, the slaves will begin to rise up against their tyrannical Government and demand to be freed from the cave.
Those with their eyes wide open must remain hopeful and continue to try and wake slaves.
Let me show you how broken your thinking is. Here is what you quoted as this thing that requires the Governments to spy everyone. which resulted in 71,803 people killed, wounded, or kidnapped in 2007.
According to this, let us compare to alcohol which is perfectly legal to people of age, and does not require intrusive spying on everyone by Governments. These stats are 2004 so it would be safe to assume that increased population increases these numbers, while "terrorism" is fluctuates massively. For example, in your link the amount of people impacted has gone down annually (which is often due to how they fudge numbers to make things look really really bad). I"m not even touching illegal narcotics which would beat the pants off of these numbers.
Cirrhosis: 372,995 deaths.
Traffic accidents: 268,246
You can read the report yourself, but the point is that the net alcohol related deaths were 2,249,852. So over 30 times the deaths occurred, and it does not mean that we should be spying on everyone.
Real numbers, you have a.00003 percent chance of being killed by a drunk, compared to a.000001 percent chance of being impacted by a terrorist (death, kidnapping, wounding). Pay attention to that, it's dead vs. impacted.
Do you see how broken your logic is, to deem it's okay to spy on people based on some raw numbers? Save the straw man or red herring about how safe the spying keeps us, it's bullshit. Boston is proof that the massive spying on you and I does not make a difference. Save your next fallacy about inept or incompetent people managing the data, it does not change because that is not the point of their spying.
Reality check! More people in the US have been killed annually by appliances falling on them than by terrorists! Here is a fun link for you.
Pay attention and read some history. In every case where people have allowed Governments to abuse their rights and privacy in order to protect them, it has turned out very very badly for that society. Every time, not most of the time. This is why Jefferson stated "Those willing to trade liberty for temporary security deserve neither liberty or security." You should know better, but you are brain washed into believing that it can't happen to you.
Either that, or you are paid to spread propaganda like you just did.
Anything else amounts to expecting the gaming corporations to act against their own profit motives. If they can tempt you into accepting unreasonable restrictions with the latest shiny, they will. If they can either kill off or control the used games markets, they will. These things make them more money. It's just that simple.
Anyone who purchases DRM'ed titles and complains about this needs to take a long look into the mirror.
There are two separate issues, you are not pointing at the same thing I am.
Assume I purchase a game and the media has DRM, like a CD-Key. When I upgrade my device, especially to the same manufacture/design/model in an upgraded version there is an expectation that I can play that game on the new device. It's no different than upgrading my PC and expecting my old stuff works.
In that respect, and with that type of DRM most people have no issues with DRM. It should also be understood that upgrades should only be expected to go so far in time (backward compatibility after a 2nd upgrade would not really be a fair expectation). We can rip CD/DVD copies to maintain the original, and maintain the key for use.
What Microsoft announced in their DRM initially was that old media would not be playable because it did not fit in their DRM model (in addition to numerous other reasons). Public reaction to Sony discussing it and abandoning the idea with PS3 should have given MS a hint, but it didn't for a very long time. I'm still curious to see if they allow old media to play with the new designs. I honestly have not followed very closely, don't own an Xbox, and try to boycott Microsoft at every possible position.
The person I replied too made it seem like the issues were just because people wanted to pirate shit. That position is wrong, and while I perhaps didn't do the best at explaining "why" it's wrong that was the intent of my post.
Now to your point, it seems like you wish for no DRM at all, including keys to unlock media. Personally I have much less issue with that than I do with Movies forcing me to watch previews every time I put in a movie. Old style DRM was extremely minimal with intrusion, and offered some protection to creators. Whether it was Unix hostid's or CD keys it worked for the most part (and still does with the most expensive software like CAD and Analysis).
facst = facts, apology for the spelling error.
When you can measure materials in the air and on the ground it becomes obvious that _something_ is going on.
Real numbers, you have a .00003 percent chance of being killed by a drunk, compared to a .000001 percent chance of being impacted by a terrorist (death, kidnapping, wounding).
People were not complaining about selling games with the DRM an, they were complaining about not being able to play them.
