Some professional degrees have mandatory work experience requirements to graduate. I studied Architecture at University, at Melbourne it was a split degree (double Bachelor), entry to the second degree had a per-requisite of the first degree ( or other school equivalent of 3 years) plus 12 months work experience. The expectation was that it would be paid experience. I worked for a large national firm with 3 other 'interns' for the duration of my year.
We haven't watched broadcast TV in a decade or so, about the only time we see adverts is when we specifically watch one someone linked to us on YouTube for a laugh.
We have a wall of DVD and a NAS full of digital media. I prefer to watch TV and Movie on my own terms rather than when it suits some network scheduler, particularly given they tend to screw over they types of shows I prefer to watch (I'm looking at you Firefly).
There are plenty of informed people who watch some degree of TV, just as there are plenty of internet junkies who are clueless about pretty much everything.
There are people who rely on traditional media such as print who sit at either end of the spectrum.
It's what you watch on TV that makes a bigger difference; are you watching something informative which challenges your preconceived ideas or zoned out in front of Keeping up with the Kardashians (which still makes me think of Star Trek).
TV and Movies are the Shakespeare of our age, and there are some masterful works out there to be enjoyed. Enjoy a bit of visual literature while you can.
It largely worked in Australia. We've had no mass shootings since the gun buy back that was implemented post the Port Arthur Massacre in 1996.
Gun crimes are particularly rare in Australia, neither do we have much of a problem with swords or arrows - though there has been a handful of incidents involving bladed weapons over the years.
I've never refused a breathalyzer before, but suffer from motion sickness and indigestion which is in a small part mitigated by medication and being in the drivers seat. There's been a couple of occasions where I've been taking a breathalyzer tests and started gagging mid test, they usually wave me on pretty promptly at that point. I think they want to avoid vomit on their shoes.
I've forgotten the name of the charge off the top of my head, but in Victoria (Australia) I believe you can be charged with causing an accident where someone is killed or seriously injured, whether they are in your car or another vehicle. It might be 'reckless endangerment' or something similar.
The first major accident I was in was due to a driver talking on a mobile phone and not noticing the lights had changed and running into the back of us at full tilt with sufficient force that 4 more cars in front of us had to be towed (there was a clearway before the next vehicle). The driver of the car I was in had even applied the parking break.
This was over 20 year ago (circa 1990) when mobile phones were far less common. We were in a small 2 seater sports car at the time and it got extremely cosy all of a sudden.
One of the things that "ALL THE SENSITIVE" crowd are trying to tell you is that rape jokes are almost never OK because they trivialise the reality of rape.
Think about 5 women you know, the odds are at least one of them has been sexually assaulted at some point in their lives. The odds are also that the person that assaulted them was known to them and someone they felt safe with prior to the assault.
Now imagine standing in front of those same 5 women, knowing one of them has most likely been raped and picture yourself telling a rape joke. Do you still think they are being over sensitive?
A couple of friends of ours are currently transitioning from male to female, from speaking to them they experience sexism against both their genders (birth and identify) on a regular basis.
I rather imagine a transgender woman would be in the unique position of experiencing both the unrecognised privilege of being male in the gaming community and to be able to directly compare that to the discrimination against female gamers.
I play WoW. I play WoW on Proudmoore which has a long tradition of being LGBT friendly. I can't spent 10 minutes in Tradechat without there being a homophobic OR sexist OR racist remark being made. Often by the same trolls day in, day out. I wish the temp ban from reporting them lasted longer than the next time you log out.
Right now I'd like to show you one of my favorite cartoons. It's a sad, depressing story about a pathetic coyote who spends every waking moment of his life in the futile pursuit of a sadistic roadrunner who MOCKS him and LAUGHS at him as he's repeatedly CRUSHED and MAIMED! Hope you ENJOY IT!!!
My husband and I have been writing roleplaying games for nearly 20 years together. Many of the older games in effect only exist as hardcopy because the softcopies are on outdated media like floppy discs and zip cartridges in old versions of PageMaker or Quark that we can no longer open.
He is keen on storing new games on GoogleDocs but I'm reluctant to trust them to an external 3rd party who has a history of killing services. I have much more faith in storing the content as txt or rtf files moving them from computer to computer as we migrate.
Is easy, any page with the keyword "prism" surely is porn and must be blocked.
Or a physics/optics site or a Pink Floyd fan site.

Le sigh.

Funny that. What ever happened to 'lead by example'?
Maybe it's now copper jacketed.
Dammit, I spent all my mod points already.

There's a lot of people who swear they'll never buy an Apple device because of how locked down it is, can't sideload unapproved apps/games, etc.
It'll be interesting to hear the justifications of many of those same people who won't hesitate to line up and buy an Xbox One or PS4
Simple, it's not made by Apple, AKA The Evil Empire MkII.
And anyone who ever saw Stitches trained into Goldshire in early WoW thinks that story sounds kind of lame by comparison.
Or Lord Kazzik to Stormwind before they moved him to Outland.

"Nine times out of ten, starting a fire is not the best way to solve the problem." - my wife
So, what she's saying is that arson is a good idea 10% of the time?
I think it's about time you sat down and had a talk to your brother about his thieving ways.
Otherwise someone might write impossible features or "magic happens" into the manuals ;).
That's called 'the Sales team'.
If you want to keep it, you should probably be laser printing it, inkjet ink fades.

*snort*
Best use of this line I've seen in a long time.
Only on special occasions.
So having had a quick look at the requirements, it doesn't apply to those of us who make up the ANZ part of the ANZUS treaty group.
It must be because we had all those criminal and immigrant fore-bearers.
