Some of those years developing operating systems. OS/2... Thank-you-very-much. I know the value of IT. I'm just saying - IT'S NOT A GOOD BUSINESS TO ENTER INTO. At least in the forseeable future.
AND, BTW, I received some pretty good grades, especially from professors who grew up in textile towns, because I did plans to keep jobs!
I really resent your ignorance! Sorry, but you do not have a FUCKING clue!
seem to be a pretty expensive franchise:
Franchise oportunites (11% revenue royalty + other fees!!!).
I'm trying to find their UFOC (Uniform Franchise Offering Circular) online, but unfortunately, the FTC doesn't seem to have these online - as far I can see.
Any FTC IT guys out there? Can you convince them to put the filings online a la "EDGAR"?
my project in B-School was to write a business plan for a software firm. In short- the margins are soooo low now, it wouldn't be worth it. And considering that the barries to entry are so low, even if came up with the killer app, you'd have competition overnight or be crushed by the big boys who have the deep pockets to tie you up in court for a decade while you try to enforce any patents you may have - and you fade away with legal costs.
Sorry, I'm incredibly negative towards the IT industry right now. I was even advised by an older timer (I've been in IT for over ten years) to get out.
The short future is projects managed in US but implemented abroad
I would change that to the "immediate future"
The Indian firms want to climb the "food chain" and go after the higher margin business. That includes PM, design, and even outsourcing everything. Eventually, as wages come into parity with the US (theirs goes up, ours go down), they will have to outsource the coding to China or any number of developing countries that are trying to get onto the off-shoring bandwagon. While I was in B-School, we had a lot of folks from developing countries. Just about everyone of them said that their Government has some sort of program that trains and subsidizes IT with the hope of having work from the developed world sent to their country.
Yes folks, you were right! It's a race to the bottom!
I would like to add, that in an increasingly complex world, it's becoming more and more difficult to be an informed consumer and citizen. The latter, I think, was the reason for AM radio's comeback. A lot of folks needed someone to boil the issues down to soundbites for quick consumption - like it or not.
As for me, I find that simplfying my life, as much as I can, is helping me to cope. It also helps me live below my means.
This industry group wants to persuade companies making antispyware programs to spare legitimate cookies while sweeping hard drives clean of unnecessary or harmful files...
I really hope the Anti-Spyware/Adware people tell them to "Fuck-Off"! Or at the very least, still flag their cookies on a seperate tab like Ad-Aware does for low risk stuff.
Otherwise, I'm doing what everyone else does and block them all.

Anytime. I appreciate comments such as yours. I don't know everything and I ususally need more info than shown in the article. Thank you.
I would have said, "Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!"
For you folks pointing out that its an "option". "Option" == "must implement" to us programmers.
I for one hate DVD menus. For one, I don't wan't to watch a repetitive scene over and over and over again just because I clicked on "> More" or " Back". I just sit there and and dream of strangling the programmer of the menus.
Is this done for performance? IN other words, are the programmers kicking off a thread to show a scene while the other menu loads? Is it a way to distract the viewer to the slow loading speeds of the DVD player?
Other than for that reason, I think DVD UI devs are morons.
Ahhh, you've come across the "Press Release Reality Field". In a press release, adjectives and adverbs take on a whole new meaning.
For example, I'm 5' 7" and white. But in a press release, I can become the next Michael Jordan. Being broke is : "liquidity issues" or "cash flow interruptions", etc... It's the same on TV. A series that hasn't even been aired yet, is advertised as the "New Hit Series" of the season.
... I could start a thread where everyone got passoinate about any subject in every thread here on/.!
Then I'd become a professor or some teacher or something!!!
Please Mod me "Offtopic"! I'm an Oldfart (TM) who likes seeing young folks getting into heated discussions about their passions I guess I'm an - An "Old Troll"!
Dude, I like to start controversy as much as the next Tr...errr...guy, but you need to give some evidence.

No. It's the Communists. No, wait, wrong decade, I mean it's the terrorists. It's all scam to fund terrorism.

I have eight years of C++. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to get a progamming job since 2001. You think that would be a problem?!?

Hey! Maybe I should start an IT consulting company. I'll call it the "Smart-Ass Group"!

Of all the posts that have responded to me, your's is the only one deserving a "+5 Insightful" or " +5 Infromative".
I will read more and make my own decision.
This is what I think /. should be about - is posts such as yours responding to posts like mine --- Thank you again!

P.S. More MOD points to the electronic oblivion!
Please, explain! I cannot keep up with everything in the news - including the ACLU.
Honestly, I want to know the ACLU's faults. -
P.S. - I don't want to support an organization that doesn't support the Constitution of the United States of America!
Also, for some reason, they seem loathe to defend free speech against administrative punishments and civil litigation.
I don't understand. And before you flame me for being stupid, try to educate me. And if I still disagree, please feel free to flame away!
I'm really passoinate about these issues.
AND contrary to the what you hear on AM radio, us conservatives are also concerned about these issues ... even if some us can't spell .... :)
