Sorry, but there are some things that I need to see in person. In many cases, there's absolutely no substitute for personal experience in choosing a product. It varies between people, but mine are: foods, powertools, movies, most books, and just about everythings else. I like to see things in person. Having ship things back because of poor quality is more trouble than just going to a local store and seeing it for myself. Plus, I'm giving my local retailer business as opposed to someone a 1,000 miles away. Sometimes, there's no way around it, you have to buy over the internet (electronics for one - Radio Shack is now a Best Buy competitor), now and again.
You didn't say what the difference is between your machine's memory and the TFA's machine's memory.
I've noticed that after I installed XP SP2 onto my machine, the 384MB wasn't adequate anymore and MS Office and everything else slowed down a bit. I wish I had the numbers.
P.S. Adobe Reader 7.0 just kills me sometimes. It seems like it locks up. Even if I'm just saving a file.
I agree with you. I want every excuse for banning cell phones on an airplane to be considered - valid or not!!!
I still can't beleive that cell phones can interfere with navigation equipment of a jumbo jet with the lastest avionics, unless you're in a small plane - and you're in the cockpit, as I have experienced. Yes, I'm a pilot, not an ATP, but I'm a private pilot - C172s and such...
someone a coworker told me about 10+ years ago. He said there was this computer scientist who thought that the ultimate UI was just a keyboard and a monitor. As the user sat down and typed, the computer would eventually figure out what the person wanted to do. So if you typed, "I want to type a letter." Eventually, the machine would figure out that you wanted a word processor. Yes, it would take a while for the machine to get used to you, but the UI would work (eventually) perfectly for you....
I'm trying to remember who he was talking about.
By the way, I think typing "pr0n" or "Porn" would be cecome universal -:)))
I once asked a management type why was the dealine chosen even the specs weren't even done yet! Their reponse was "that's how we'd meet the ROI (Return on Investment) requirement for the project. I said "Maybe the project isn't worth doing and the VP is an idiot!" , but it came out of my mouth as "Oh I see! I learn something new everyday!" Of course, we missed the deadline and the ROI target too.
I've been programming in C++ for almost ten years. His books are one of the best in the market. I prefer it over Strousup's book. The CD is awsome. Some of the stuff may be a little over your head at first, but stick with it. He has tips on developing not only good C++ programming habits, but also good overall OO programming habits. This will help you when you get into other OO languages. Goodluck!

ZDNet India is reporting that 'India faces a massive shortage of workers with European language skills over the next five years which could see the country needing to recruit up to 120,000 foreigners...
Everytime a "journalist" says that there's shortage, I immediately become suspicious. These people said that there was a "shortage" of programmers and it would last until, what, 2010? And yet there's still a bunch of us who had to get jobs at Home Depot. These folks are saying that there's a "shortage" of nurses. But a few years ago, nurses where being laid-off because of managed care. WTF! What I'm saying is, these folks are just spewing the shit they're getting from PR firms and reporting it as news.
Here's something that I really love. A friend of mine was approached by a guy to start a "school" for nurses. He wanted to recruit people from Africa (I don't why Africa - I guess a lot of foreign nurses are from Africa especially Nigeria)and then train them as nurses to help with the nursing "shortage". My friend, bless her, said "When working conditions and pay are IMPROVED FOR NURSES, I MAY help you, until then I do not believe there's a "shortage".
I'm hearing more and more people (even from IT) training to become nurses because of the increased salaries.
I think this article is just a PR ploy to screw their own (Indians) people!

I tend to love practical circuits and such, but without the mathematics theory used to analyse and design them I'm dead in the water Dude, wait till you get a job - boy are you going to be pissed when you find out you're only going to use maybe 10% of what you learned in school. You'll see.
