    Lazy with an entitlement complex. One guy we hired told us he taught himself a new programming language at a rudimentary level and sort of looked at us like he deserved a cookie. After being told that that kind of self initiated upskilling was expected of him, he sort of resented being told that.

    God damn it. Why the fuck did the US invade Iraq in 2003?. Hussein was a madman but he kept a lid on things.

    BTW I'm not American so my kids aren't going to be fighting in Iraq, its the US young service men and women I feel sorry for.

    Wrong. Open source does not mean chaos or loss of control.For example Mozilla Firefox is open source but Mozilla are still firmly in control of the project.

    Its a question of good governance. Give it freedom but yet maintain direction. Not an easy balance to get right as companies like Oracle are slowly learning. How much control would Apple want to exert? My guess is a lot.

    Why bother crying and begging them to allow you to strengthen their products? If you want to work on Swift then send your resume to Apple.

    What the hell is up with you people over there in the US. Still using Imperial measurements? Banning science in favour of teaching about a wizard who made everything not so long ago. producing 40% of the worlds pollution whilst only having 4% of the worlds population

    Wow the Europeans confirming the existence of the Higgs Boson and then ramping up the LHC power output has really stung the American Physics community into action. First they put on a dog and pony show about "Hints of Physics beyond the Standard Model" last week, and now this crap? Why is it that we feel we must hold up fanciful speculation as some sort of achievement? In Europe they get results, here we just publish fantasy and partial fact dressed up as wondrous discovery and pat ourselves on the back and hey we might even get on CNN if its "Star Trek" enough.

    How about doing real some science guys, like the egg-heads in Europe do?
