Well, power management (the apmd module) has been know to hang quite a few laptops, including mine when trying to install the basics. You have to disable it during install, and even then you have to use Gnome over Kde, as Kde uses some related functions anyways (thus hanging the laptop).
This was damn annoying to figure out, considering I'm a total n00b (actually a bit less after all this;)
Glad I had and old desktop where I ran smoothly without a fuzz... that motivated me to get it running on the laptop.
I actually DO have three monitors on my desk. Two for my main system, and another one for my second box, so I *could* add a forth to it I guess... but that would be overkill... anyways, I don't own a TV so that kinda makes up for it;)
How about setting up two monitors for the same PC?
I have it at home and can't live without it anymore. I can code in one screen, and have a PDF/browser/DVD open in the other.
It rocks:)
OK, so we use every trick in the book the get kids into buying into stuff == (happiness|coolness) and then we wonder whey they just grab it instead off the net instead of spending the $$$ they don't have?
Same here :)

besides, a camera that's on all the time would give uterly useless crappy shots! photgraphy is about composition, light, technique...
