Lucky for you there is a centralized, annotated, comprehensive, searchable, accessable by web services manual and a centralized repository of standard classes.
People underestimate the power of those two things. CPAN is the number one reason why PERL is still so popular.

equality is now a valid test of null. You should use is_null instead. You would not say "select * from mytable where mycolumn=null" would you?
What do you mean by "rigid OO structure"? The OO in PHP is not all that different then Python (although it's missing some of the functional programming aspects of python.
Although I agree with you in principle, in practice this is a good thing. As long as the the only people complaining about patent law is the FSF and open source crowd nothing will get done. If MS starts complaining then the politicians will listen.
I wish thousands of people would sue MS and win. Once they lose enough patent lawsuits they will push for meaningful patent reform. This of course is just pocket change for them. Bill Gates will dig through his couch and come up with the money to pay the guy and go on his merry way.

In any collection of documents you harvest from a company there will be mentions of their major competitiors and to those people any and all information about the competition is valuable. If I offered a company details about their competition you can bet your ass they would pay me lots of money and would not even blink at buying it.
Why doesn't every corporation in the world install something to prevent worms from propagating? Do they not care or do they think they are already protected because they have a firewall?
It can't be made to run on a regular PC. First of all it will be using openfirmware so you will at a minimum have to change the BIOS (presuming it even works). Secondly it will most likely depend on particular chip(s) to be present on the MB in order to run. Finally they would be foolish to let you do that and say what you want about apple they are not dumb and foolish.
An admin who does not know the ldap schema he is working is downright dangerous. They should immediately be fired before they cause major harm to the company they are working for.
I think the GPL probably works best for a company like Red Hat. Other companies can out spend them on development staff so they need to make sure they get back any enhancements made by oracle, sun, hp or what have you. Otherwise the project would fork and their version would be left behind.
I will put in my prediction before the announcement is made.
Apple will introduce a stereo componenet that will be made with intel chips. This component will be able to receive signals from an ipod and play them or podcast them.
There will be no intel based mac os x machines.
