' Incredible claims require incredibly strong evidence to back them up.'
This is a ridiculus statement to make. All claims should be judged by the same criterea. Just because you think the claim is ridiculus you should not be able to raise the bar for proof beyond any other claim. Science is science, proof is proof. You don't get to say "this proof is not sufficient because your claim is incredible".
From everything you have written it seems like Arnold has no real principles. He throws everybody a bone so they think he is one of them. Throw gay marriage to liberals, appear in the convention for the conservatives, say something about free markets to liberterians what ever it takes to get people to think he is one of them.
You think he is a liberterian, ask a conservative or a liberal and they would think that he was a conservative or a liberal. Sounds like a politician.
"That would be the mark of a free-market economist, not a corporatist."
There is no difference. A free market economist is a corporatist. They believe that corporations should be able to run amok without any govt regulation, environmental regulation, consumer safety laws, or anything.
Of course CA should be used to being raped by corporations by now. They sure do seem to get it up the ass a lot from "free market forces"
But I didn't watch the show. I missed it. They never made the money in the first place.
I just want to catch up on what I missed. Normally they replay it on saturday but that saturday they didn't even replay it. If they replayed it I would have watched it on the tv.
So explain to me how they are losing money in this transaction. They are not going to show the episode again, it's not out on DVD, I didn't watch it in the first place. How does it profit them when they prevent me from seeing a past episode?
In a big time law firm starting salary is around 120-150K. You have to be graduating from a bigtime law school to even work there. For the first few years you work like a dog doing mundane work and research. You typically put 12 hours or more every day. Later on you may get to actually act like layer rather then a paralegal and make even more money. At that time you don't work nearly as hard because you have underlings. If you are lucky you get to eventually make partner. At that point you are making at least one million more like tens of millions a year.
Again this is in a big time law firm in NY or LA or something. In your local town the lawyers also work 12 hours a day but they don't make as much. No matter where you are though unless you are a prosecutor or a public defender or something you are in the top 5% of earners.
It's a lot of work but every lawyer I know ( and I know quie a few) likes it. I would not want to do it but I guess somebody has got to.
"If it's the lawyers, are they scared of not being paid and having their costs balloon out - the risk being too high?"
That's basically it. Originally they probably thought IBM would buy SCO to make them go away and everybody would be rolling in dough. Now that the stock is tanking and the case looks doomed the lawyers want to make sure they get paid. They can wipe their assess with the SCO stock they got but they want to make sure the gold toilet seats are paid for in cash.
Any time I hear anybody complain about a UI it's always the same complaint "this does not work the same as the program I am familiar with". It seems to have nothing to with whether the system is easier to use, arrainged more logically, layed out better on the screen, has better graphics or anything.
To me UI guys are simply people who police the windows WIMP paradigm. If MS changes their UI then voila now you guys enforce the new MS look.
If you ask me there will never be improvement in the UI field. We aer stuck with this crappy overlapping windows paradigm forever.
I wonder how long it will take for them to realize that they have been bent over by MS. Hopefully they have decent lawyers and can get out of the contract.
BTW any CEO/CIO what agrees to a nine year contract for anything with any vendor ought to be fired on the spot. What kind of a moron does that?
Has he cut any govt programs? Has he borrowed heavily? Has he proprosed increases in govt spending? Has he called for elimination of any of the govt depts?
From your description he sounds like a corprotist not a liberterian. It will be interesting to see what happens to california when he lets the corporations run amok over there. Enron already fucked them over big and from what you are saying the people of CA are bending over to get screwed a few more times before this is all over.
I have become hooked on the tv show "lost". I missed an episode last week so I downloaded it and watched it on my computer.
Just exactly what is their beef with that? Should I have waited will the DVDs come out before I saw that episode?
Man these people are just evil. I just want to watch your tv show for god's sake why do you have to make it do difficult for me. Don't you want me to watch the damned show?
As for the trade surplus well DUH all those subsidies better produce some trade surplus.
The cold hard facts remain. The rural (midwest, south, inland northwest, southwest) states are on the receiving end of the welfare state. take away the subsidies and you all go bankrupt.
Try saying "no thanks" once in a while to govt handouts and do us all a favor willya.
Read this http://taxprof.typepad.com/taxprof_blog/2004/09/re d_states_feed.html and shut the fuck up.
"Please tell me how many welfare recipients there are in the rural areas of the midwest compared to the droves of people in "NY and CA" that are sitting back doing absolutely nothing and living off the government"
Entire states are on welfare. They suck up taxes from the rich states. Read the link. Your entire state's economy depends on you sucking up taxes from the hard working people of NY and CA.
"I'd love to see this terribly informative data about those poor bastards on "the coasts" getting the shaft. Please enlighten a poor, illiterate, tax sucking midwesterner."
There is a thing called the internet. It contains information. I have posted one URL for you, there are a lot more. If you are not illiterate and stupid but merely ignorant consider yourself on the way to being more informed. Follow the URL and educate yourself.
Yes. The profits still go to Nike which is a US corporation. That corporation then bribes US officials who are in charge of setting policy. Deprive Nike of profits and they will go and make those politicians have a more sane US policy.
With the electoral collage there are only five states deciding the election. What's wose they are small states. Why should the people of Ohio have so much say while the people of NY, CA, IL get completely ignored?
Most midwestern states receive more in federal funding then they pay in taxes. Without govt welfare for farmers, ranchers, miners and loggers the midwestern US would collapse into abject poverty.
The entire midwest is a giant tax sucking welfare state. Whether it's farm subsidies, crop insurance, flood insurance, maintaining endless highways or whatever. You all would be fucked if it wasn't for those hard working people in NY and CA whose tax dollars are subsidising your rural lifestyle.
Look it up, people in NY and CA get shafted and you benefit.
I just want to pick a nit with you. You said.

I still have the original master of orion and I still play it. Go figure.
"So blue screen jokes aside, this is probably a good business decision for HP"
I disagree. What differentiates a HP media center from a gateway or joe blow media center then? he color of the case?
Underpants Gnomes are running HP.
Make the same thing everybody else is making
Charge more for it
??
Profit!
I guess this explains the HP branded iPod too.

Mmm. The exit polls were very pro kerry and yet the vote tally didn't turn out that way.
How odd.

Think about it.
SCO takes money from canopy, MS, Sun, and the shareholders and transfers it into the brother of the CEO. Why is that even legal?

"That's a bit like turning up to Wal-Mart, doing your shopping, coming to the counter and saying 'oops, I forgot my wallet."
No it's not.
Maybe you can answer something something for me.

What a waste.

I missed the show. I was not in front of the TV. If they gave me option of watching it with commercials I would not have downloaded the thing.
You know if you read revelations it says that the anti christ will be seen as a savior and that the majority of the people will follow him.
Something to think about next time Bush talks about god.
The answer is simple. Only share porn. They don't seem to mind at all.

Actually 49 if you count nader.
It should bother you that anybody is leaving for political reasons.
Actually a lot of movie stars live in europe. France, and England seem to be popular. Why not? I would if I could.
