Bush has grown the government more then any other president in recetn history. He even created the largest government agency ever. He has also incresed the deficit to largest in history. He has also enacted protectionist policies for steel, farming etc.
The only reason to call him a conservative is because he believes that god speaks through him, god told him to run for president and god got him elected and of course he is not going to let homosexuals marry.

You attribution of the advancement of medicine to IP is misleading. Of course knowledge has advanced tremendoulsy in the last 100 years but then again so has education, the population, and accumulated knowledge.
The reason medical advances occur is because scientists don't keep their ideas secret. They share information and build on each others ideas. You know the whole "the reason I have seen further is because I am standing on the shoulders of giants" thing.
Whoo Hoo. I am looking forward to a new OS from MS that will be less useful then the current one. I can't wait till they take away my ability to write to USB drives or download songs to my ipod. I mean who needs all that? Let he Mac and linux users use their fancy shmancy hipster ipods we don't want any part of those hippies.
"I'm a small govt. conservative deeply concerned with our rights"
So you won't be voting for Bush I gather.

Well that was the hype anyway. Alas it was all a lie. In recent history the only time governments ran in a fiscally responsible manner were under democratic presidents. The only time the deficits shrank were under democrats. Democrats were better at job creation too.
That's the problem with hype. People believe it even if the cold hard numbers contradict it.
According to IDC here is how the database market breaks down.
Oracle is #1 overall with 39.8% market share IBM has second place with 31.3% Microsoft is third with 12.2%
So as you can see although MS is third it's way behind the other two.
I don't expect MS to make too much progress in the database market though. Oracle has cut it's prices so that it costs the same or less then MS sql server for every product and there is fierce competition from open source databases.
When the next version of postgres comes out all the open source databases will run natively on windows. If I was MS I'd be thinking about another round of price cuts.
I don't know the answer to your specific question. It seems to me that in order for the metadata extractor to work the file has to already exist someplace.
I am pretty sure the filesystem guys at Apple have already figured that question out. It's a pretty obvious "what if" and those guys seem pretty smart to me.
There are many ways to deal with downtimes. Whether it's backups, stand by servers, load balancers or what have you.
With linux you have more options. No locked files mean easier backups. Distros like Knoppix mean you can boot off the CD and attempt to clean up your drive. Since all configuration is in one place and is in text files you can check your/etc directory into cvs and roll back to any number of known good states.
Those are just a few advantages of a *nix based system in the hands of a competent sysadmin.
The apple system is very simple. Before the OS saves a file it looks to see if there is a metadata extractor plug in for that file. If there is then it calls the extractor which hands a set of name value pairs back to the OS. The OS then adds them to the master index.
Apple has built a few extractors for the common file types but anybody can write an extractor for their own file types.
Quite elegent don't you think? There is no reason why it should lead to any kind of corruption.
Yea spotlight will totally kick ass. I love the virtual directories which are simply search results. The email client will also enable you to create virtual imap forders for your mail.
Maybe the MS system will be just as cool if it ever comes out.

Kerry has been right more then Bush so he does indeed deserve your vote.
Also Kerry said saddam HAD weapons. Bush said saddan HAS weapons. That one letter makes a big difference.
Finally: Many people said Saddam was dangerous and had to go. Only Bush thought it was a good idea to do it by invading the country.
"Personally I think that they are going to make our efforts in Afganistan and Iraq look like a picnic."
If it's going to be anything like what they did in Chechnia and Afghanistan then be prepared for the worst.
In afghanistan entire villages were firebombed. When people hid in ditches and drainage pipes the Russian army flooded them with gasoline and lit them on fire. There was also widespread rape and torture.
Bush opened up a can of worms when he declared that the UN did not matter and that international law did not apply to people who had enough bombs.
I can only imagine Russian forces firebombing entire cities in iraq, iran, saudi arabia or wherever. I don't imagine GW objecting much do you?
Or that all the targets were prominent democrats? No wonder the justice dept isn't investigating this all that hard. Better to go after those evil people distributing dope to cancer patients.
If it was so correct why did the supreme court specifially state that it could never be used as a precedent and they reserve the right to rule the opposite way if another case comes their way?
My guess is that they reserve the right to elect a republican no matter what the law says.

" but I think it's sleezy on Moore's part to imply it was an intentional act on the part of Bush to win the election."
Why? Cos the republicans are too ethical to try and surpress voting by african americans?.
IF they can call in death threats to stop vote counting they can erase voters of the lists.
