Even the 'real' artists depend on the record companies for advertising and marketing.
The collapse of the music industry you anticipate would either
    a. cause people to look online for free, indie music, which I doubt would happen, because most people are quite content being told what they like, or
    b. cause a smaller record company to rise in ranks, which would then take the place of the larger companies.

The game is also racist. ALL Goombas are evil, ALL koopas are evil, and ALL of bowsers children are automatically evil. What happened to judging people on the content of their character?

Is this the kind of game you would want your 12 year old playing? Are we going to let some punk kid deal this to our children from orders handed down from an evil corporation called "EBGames", it's true intentions hidden behind a veil of technical legality?

Not that I'm saying nice things aren't important, and that they don't deserve them, but they just don't appear to appreciate them. Half the girls pull their cellphones out after class and start calling their friends to talk for the whole ten minutes between classes, and they all have at least decent cars.

Don't you think that's only going to make your children more dependent on you? I mean, really, if kids don't work for cars, toys, CDs, games, clothing, etcetera, they don't appreciate them as much. If your daughters worked for their cars, and spent a summer of working retail and saving money, maybe they would learn financial independence and responsibility.
Not that I'm insulting your daughters, but don't be surprised if they come to you with a "Ooooh daddykins!" attitude every time they need new oil for their cars.

Let me just say that I don't think the novel point-n-shoot idea is a bad thing. I think it'll make FPS games more interesting, add some cool new design concepts, and possibly, maybe even probably, be really cool.
All I'm saying is that they're self-admitedly dumbing down their hardware, and catering to a crowd who won't buy the system. Sure, you want a console that won't cost much, that'll give you cool, pick up and play kinds of games. Don't we all? You think I have time to game 'hardcore'? All I really want is something to play when I'm home from school/work, and not doing homework. But, please, two buttons? I like a technical fighter as much as the next guy (maybe less), I like FPSs now and again, I love a good, immersive RPG or dungeon crawl, and I like platformers more than most. Will two buttons, four if you count the 'nunchuck' attachment, really allow for the complexity I want in a FPS? Heck, Doom used more buttons than that! Will an uncomfortable looking (to me) controller really let me select items on the screen with maximum precision? Their design seems to focus around making the hardware look really good to people who don't game, when it should focus on being the best hardware it can be, and letting people who don't game discover how easy it is to control when they see their friends/kids/extended relatives play it.

one of the things that bugs me is that the reasoning for shaping it like a remote control is stupid! So people will pick it up off of their coffee table? Yeah, like the average gamer is gonna blow $200-$300 on a device, hook it up, and then set the remote on the coffee table, only to sit down later that evening intrigued by the new, user friendly device in front of them.
Come on, we're gamers, not old people. Anyone who is going to pick it up and play with it will either be a grandparent, or a parent, and then they will pick it up, have trouble figuring out the game interface or have trouble turning it on, fiddle with it for a while, and then set it down and find the TV remote.
We're your customers. Cater to us! It would be like a knitting needle company foregoing the same old needle designs for more hardcore, Xtreme designs, to draw a new generation of nonknitters to the table.

Kids love Gamecubes. I mean, let's face it, that's what Nintendo is going for.
Their current games seem to be either gimmicky "Donkey Kong Jungle Swing" type of games, or rehashed "Pokemon RedishBlue: Pearl Edition" games.
Where are the games with cool ideas and substance?
Where are the games like Yoshi's Island, where they took the platformer genre and mixed things up?
Where are the games like Mario 64 where you got incredible environments, great puzzles, enormous replay value, and cool controls?
All their games nowadays seem to belittle the gaming skills of todays kids.
Remember having to unlock Rainbow Road in Super Mario Kart? Now all you need to unlock stuff is a Gamecube, a GBA, a DS, and half-a-dozen games. The skill involved is mind-boggling.
If they want to win the next console war, all they need to do is come up with winning game titles.
