    He repeatedly pointed out that there were indications of a connection between Al Queda and Saddam's intelligence apparatus (being shown more and more each day to be exactly true), and very reasonably pointed out the need for a more stable, democratic middle east in the wake of 9/11.

    Will either our need or our troops produce a stable, democratic Middle East?

    According to that map (zoom out a bit), Calgary is closer to Seattle than Edmonton is, and Redmond is just outside of Seattle.

    And Linux doesn't? And Linux has to provide many of the drivers, while Vista gets more support from the hardware manufacturers.

    SUSE (and other Linux distributions) is a collection of software projects. They are distinct projects, as Novell/SUSE doesn't write TeX/LaTeX, or gcc, or GNU Emacs.

    It was more Ptolemaic than Aristotelian. And by the 1500's, the Ptolemaic model was having problems. One could add more epicycles to square it with Brahe's observations, but is that good science?

    Also, the Bible says that the sun stopped moving during the Battle of Gibeon (Joshua 10:13).

    Even if Galileo's astronomy was not scientific, it's still a matter of freedom of inquiry.

    I've read that "virus" was a mass term in Latin, and so it didn't have a plural.

    From what I've been able to see over the years, LISP has been favored only by people that found using HP RP-notation calculators to be a fun and rewarding experience.

    You're kidding here, right? HP calculators are fun to program, at least for mathematical stuff. Nice syntax, just throw stuff on the stack.
