60 miles per hour is 88 feet per second. Given constant acceleration, we have 88 feet per second divided by 4.5 seconds, which yields about 19.6 feet per second squared. Using the formula d=0.5*a*t^2, and taking 1320 feet as a quarter mile, we get 1320=0.5*19.6*t^2. Solving for t gives us about 11.6 seconds.
I still don't understand math. I can manipulate the symbols but I don't understand what the symbols represent. I believe that as a student in any discipline, understanding the things that the symbols represent is far more essential than being able to decode the symbols without comprehension.
There is a school of mathematics Formalism that holds that mathematical is more about symbolic manipulation than about what the symbols represent.
First, red matter didn't belong to the Federation, and second, red matter isn't a ship. I consider the Death Star to be a ship because it can move under its own power. Also, Vulcan and Spock's mom were in TOS. Won't anyone think of the canon?
The earth casts a shadow on the moon in a vacuum. The problem isn't vacuum, it's optics. If the Death Star is close to a star (say within an AU), the craft is too small to cause an eclipse. If the Death Star is too far awat, then there is not single source of light strong enough such that blocking it causes a shadow.
Star Trek ships are capable of time travel. Since it was never shown how many or how fast ships from either Star Trek or Star Wars could destroy a planet
Alderaan didn't last too long against the Death Star in Episode IV.
Sorry if he said it somewhere else, but I didn't see it in the comments to which you responded.
Curmudgeon99 never said that Microsoft was moving away from .NET; he said that developing in .NET doesn't lead to a deeper awareness of programming.
Will Steve's Bio be available on the iPad 4011?
Did Jesus actually get much coverage on his death?
Does IBM use time zone info? They're pretty good at squashing insects.
Ah, the dangers of extrapolation. Thank you.
But how do you stop in stop-and-go traffic without a brake? Doesn't regeneration require a brake?

I can only drive for 10 continuous hours without a brake in 32 MPH stop and go traffic
So how do you deal with stop-and-go traffic without a brake?
I suspect that Microsoft has more money for lobbyists than the Free Software Foundation.
How should developers deal with differences among browsers? Should they avoid MathML because Internet Explorer doesn't support it?
Yeah, libxul.so is 10 megabytes smaller (21 vs. 31) in Firefox 7 than it was in Firefox 6.
A certain three-letter government agency? I suspect that several such agencies would like a peek.

Congresswoman Michelle Bachmann has criticized the HPV vaccine. Is she a "moonbat left wing wacko"?
Call it "volumetrically challenged" or something.
Wouldn't it be "volumetrically gifted"?
Their precious constitution was written over 300 years ago
And which constitution is that? The US Constitution is only 224 years old.
Also, what if you can't impose social jistice by fiat?
One version works. The next, crashes like Nascar racers.
And people don't like NASCAR crashes?
Julian Assange backed out (allegedly worrying about self-incrimination)
Vice President Cheney didn't worry.
Am I the only one who has trouble with alternate timelines?
Hmm, would this do?
