What this means is that the "average" non-techie user will see no difference, and there for no reason to migrate from IE 7
Well, i have a friend who switched from IE6 to FF 0.9 all by his own. No i didn't even told him about FireFox (but i installed FF in that PC tho). Anyway, he didn't even know that FF has tabbed browsing until he saw me using it. "Wow! You can open many pages in the same window(TM)".
Ahh, and don't forget that when the time IE7 is released (hopefully in our lifetime), Firefow will have many new features.
Why does people keep equating Open Source = Linux?
Saying that Open Source is not "user friendly" really makes no sense.
And all over that, you say that "commercial software is over" which is completely false. As long as software has any value commercial software will exist. And that's one of the reason that commercial Open Source software exist.
If Debian's packaging system is somehow going to resolve all this, let me know. Otherwise, I'll probably stick to Windows and Mac packages at the moment, both of which are simple to put together and just work.
I use Psi. It's very good and works in many platforms, including Windows, Linux and OSX. It's also very configurable, i encourage you to try it.
BTW. Gaim sucks! :).

It doesn't work in Konqueror either...

Or maybe i'm missins the meaning of "commerical"?
No, i'm using Debian Sarge (KDE 3.2.3/Konqueror 3.2.2)
MAybe it's just me, but Konqueror is really irresponsive in my system. That's one of the biggest reasons i avoid Konqueror like the plague :).
It is not. Basically because everybody has the same thing, there's a lot of duplication.
They are in the bussisnes of making movies, not software, by opensourcing they benefit themselves, that's a better adventage IMO.
Er, have you heard about Konqueror?
Actually, if you scroll down a bit you can find the mirrors here.
Or... Install Mozilla Diggler:s /#diggler
